It takes a brave government to raise taxes during a recession. In Australia, they are adding new taxes and the government's popularity in the polls tanked. They are even talking of swaping back to the previous prime minister lol.

The struggle for limited resources leads almost certainly to war.

Unfortunately we as humans, can imagine ourselves taking extra amounts of the limited resources, therefore assume others will do so,and to protect ourselves from this take more ourselves.

Whereas it would be quite easy for a rational species to work together and to avoid conflict. We are most certainly not rational.
Unfortunately for every side that involves human players, that the above logic dictates nearly all strategic choices.

Some have suggested that there are only three thought processes, that really ever occur.
1.) Is it a threat (imaginary or real)?
2.) Can we hump it (unfortunately, AT science has proven that there are no women on the internet)?
3.) Can we eat it,(or will it give us food)?

So really, in earth, people only really operate with 2/3rds of their rational ability.

"If they can not provide food, then they are obviously a threat."

That basically sums up the past decade of strategic development for all sides.

I tend to tell people not to do it unless fully or partially funded, because potentially the outcomes at the end are hazy.

Referring to preventing possible SOL/RD/NA vs MD/Laf/LCN, the later would have a 150% member advantage. FSing one clan to keep them from possibly joining an uneven pre-planned war, I'd say that was like another clan, but I wouldn't do that to you.

The disadvantage to Sof would have been that they would have been entirely left alone. If you ally netgainers allies, Sof would have very few people to play with. Ironically I still like Sof.

The whole thread is silly, with the return to power of Helmut all subsequent actions for the next 10 resets could be predicted.

I not entirely sure how there could be an anti-Sof conspiracy as somehow it seems to involve Sol, when Sol has been, possibly ungroundedly, pro-Sof since 2006, and somewhat still are. Who else does that leave then? Sof is even still listed as one of the clans that Solers highly respect.

I knew someone like that once, didn't end well. I think you should be more concerned about the reasons behind the behaviour.

The cycle of hatred. Though it occurred to me, many of the players of this game aren't stupid, then why does human heuristic processing have such a large role.

My assumption was that people who held extreme views were the ones most likely to continue playing. Though on the other hand, is it also possible that people that are prone to thinking in a lazy way are the ones that continue to play.

For those without psychology degrees, our brains are designed to optimise efficiency through heuristic processing, using rules that we are inclined to via genetics and experience. We take shortcuts in how we process the worlds information. Though quite frankly people unable to do this, tend to go insane.

Then do we all have the same rules? or just a tendency for lazy thinking.

Judging by many of the threads, many people seem to use behavioural heuristics;
1.) Judging entire groups by the small subset that they interact with
2.) Judging behaviour and intentions based on a small subset of recent behaviour. (technically recency effect bias, can be a memory heuristic or a recall issue, though it does tie into the third rule)
3.) Ignoring information that does not confirm the beliefs from the first two rules.

Hmmm is it just these three? I have also noticed some individuals apply their own values to judge intentions quite often as well, eg. this is how and why we act, and I believe ou do the same.

This however is really illogical, as if you judge people to be different to own group, then why do you project your own values and beliefs onto that different group.

A limitation of this study was that we did not account for quality of interaction. If you divide the duration by the value of the conversation results may differ. I believe this may be a valid direction for future research.

This thread is weird, I am tending to agree more with Pang than Ivan. Ever since end of the world day when I agreed with Pang, I think Pang has been getting more reasonable. Typically in the past I'd just agree with Ivan, well occccasssssionallllly at least.

I've always said for the past decade that turrets were a good part of the solution. First thing I ask when someone in my clan complains about something like this is 'why u no got turrets?'

Evo is looking strong this reset if I don't say so myself. Sol vs Evo I'd still have to say Sol. We did at one stage (long ago) send solers over to Evo to teach them to war but they returned depressed. :/

Evo however has shown much stronger performance and motivation at war since then. The only issue is that in this game its hard to be both good at war and at netting, there are cultural differences between clans that specialise in either. To have a group of players with a flexible mentality that supports both ideologies would be quite a triumph. Thus far any clan that attempts both does not last forever just because of the difficulty in maintaining numbers of people that like both.

Theo war strat requires superior numbers, to reduce the probability of your country being selected for missile target and an earlier war to prevent the enemy from having too many missiles.
