Just curious, qzjul, but will bot changes be announced before they are implemented, or will we be surprised when they start retaliating on us in the middle of a set?

^ I think the techers are getting the shortest end of the stick with the bots. They can least afford to spend extra turns bottomfeeding fuffy noob-bots.

Yech prices did seem high this set though; I'm not sure whether this is any sort of compensation effect, but it doesn't seem unlikely if people jump ship on teching strats.

Thanks! This was actually the first round I have played as commy in some years, so really I'm surprised I won. I could have even finished a little higher, but I pulled a chunk of military off the market with about 15 minutes to go in the round for fear of overselling and then bought a little too much tech before running my final turns. A few people landed some really nice hits on me too, and I couldn't quite time a solid retal on most of them.

Good round everyone, can't wait until the next one.

1) Numbers have been dropping for 18 years. Dwindling numbers =/= dying fast as fluff.

2) Last four resets there were 144, 111, 120, and 119 players. I am not counting the bots, although I did assume there were less than 24 of them last set.

3) Referring to someone as 'this guy,' mischaracterizing their post so as to insinuate self-centeredness, and then sarcastically remarking 'pro status' after a (failed) attempt to point out a mistake is tantamount to a personal attack.

4) Again, not trying to criticize qzjul or complain about the changes, just expressing my preference for having no ai players and my concerns for what adding bots might do.

Here, I am quite clearly thanking qzjul regardless of the opinion I am expressing. If you think my posts are all about "me me me," I suggest you try rereading them or perhaps try practicing your reading comprehension skills. It just seems to me that adding bots into the game is unfair to all explore players because the bots will be additional targets for land grabbers.

Also, doesn't stabilizing the market prejudice the democracy players who like to try to profit from that instability?

My opinion is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You are all entitled to your own opinions, but I think the game is fine how it is without bots, but then again maybe I'm just a Solaria originalist Mehul fanboy.

I'm not trying to criticize qzjul, just expressing my opinion and concerns.

Hmm..

I'm not sure I understand why new players need to be shielded, why the market needs to be stabilized, why the distribution needs to be smoothed or why the grabbing environment needs to be less hostile.

I enjoy the hostile grabbing environment, the coarse distribution, and the unstable market. I don't think there are that many new players, but even still my opinion is that they don't need to be shielded but should rather just learn to play well.

Just my two cents.

Really fun and interesting set. Not only were bushel prices nuts but tech seemed to crash and spike quite a bit too.

I'm pretty happy with my first set back. Always room to improve though, right?

Any all-xers make top ten, or was I the top all xer?

Also possible though that a demo techer used money from those same tech sales to buy up the bushels. There were a few high priced sets of bushels on the market at the time.

I'd just like to point out that mrford is the only one talking about coordination or cheating. A lone demo can still pull shenanigans by buying out the bushel market. Shenanigans don't necessarily mean cheating. Interesting parallel.

Unfortunately, I think even the appearance of cheating should be a purpleable offense unless the players take steps to dispel such an appearance of cheating.
The maxim here being:
If cheaters can cheat in a way such that no one can know they are cheating, then any behavior that has the same appearance must needs be prohibited.
