i don't know the type of buisness you are looking for an investment in. however if the business plan is solid and the idea is really good, the companies listed below can help.

the thing with venture capital however is they do take a percentage of the business. They are gambling on your success and yes they absolutely want a say in how things are being run.

Note: just kinda went thru my linkedin and pulled the ones that looked promising.

a techer is good, in teaching specialization, and market trends, same with a commie indy.

Both strats however are market trend dependent, while cash flow can be good, if priced wrong and too high it can hurt. Both depend on Goods selling on the public market to keep taking turns. get this wrong and the country's growth is stunted. It is also frustrating to new players to login after long hours of waiting to see someone undercut their sale price, causing them to acquire few to no sales. Which means they would need to be fairly active in tracking what the market does to pull goods down and reset sell prices as needed.

The easiest strategy I found for a beginner is a Fascist Farmer.

Mainly because there are fewer things to keep track of, and has a higher threshold for recovery when mistakes are made.

Fascist Farmer Build a good count construction sites getting your build per turn to 50+
Explore
build farms
sell food
buy agricultural and military technology
buy adequate defense for your country

check the score sheet and compare your land to net worth ratio to other countries around you. If you seem a bit land fat get more defensive military, or buy up some weapons tech to minimize your military expenses.

If you plan on land grabbing other countries keep in mind it is not what you take but what you keep that ultimately counts at the end of the day.

A Draft of an Unofficial Earth Empires User Guide is now available.

http://revlonred.clanteam.com/...res_Draft_User_Guide.html

Let me know what you think.

A couple of things to note some of the info in the user guide was pulled from the wiki. I would like to give credit where credit is due so if those who wrote parts of the wiki recognize there work and would like for me to add their names to a credit section I can definitely do this. Alternately if they want me to rewrite it in my own words I will pull it down and re-write it.

If you have material you would like to include in the User Guide or rewrite a section making it easier to understand please let me know so I can include it.

last note ... sorry for the colors, will work on them at some point in time. The website is still a work in progress slowly adding content over time. If you have strategies, tools, or general game information you would like to see posted let me know and I will do what I can to get it up there for you.

BTW, no worries about the clan thing, I am not really recruiting at the moment. This more of a pet project to get game help information out there and available to new players stumbling onto our little world ;)

If oil was at the right price we would not be seeing cheap military and tech on the market. Turrets this early in the game should be fluctuating $160-180.

With oil that cheap land grabbing is made way too easy from a financial perspective, so we get 30k acre commies. If players had to choose targets carefully because oil was at a premium it would definitely change the dynamics.

With oil at 210 it costs 8.4M to move a million jets. spending 40M + for 5 planned strikes a day would stabilize prices. A lot less suicides too because you are not going to get the 200-300 hits in without some significant cost associated to it.

just my take on the price of oil... probably not worth the 2 cents of electricity it used to post this :p

Why on earth would anyone be selling oil @ $60 a barrel???

10K acre fascist oiler will beat a techer or casher to hell and back when prices are just right ;)

sad part is those selling the oil rarely realize the demand is there regardless of price :o

3.5 barrels per acre * 9000 acres = 31,500 barrels per turn * $280 per barrel = $8,820,000

very small amounts of tech needed mostly

* military tech which is cheap at the start of a reset

* a little biz/res to minimize cash loss per turn (done right you can have a positive cash flow)

* Agri tech to minimize the amount of farms needed for positive food flow achievable with about 300-500 farms

* Weapons for defense

* SDI needs no explanation

* mil strat if planning to landgrab

--------------------------------

180 CS optimal CS for 10k acres
320 Indies for spies
500 Farms
9000 Rigs

oil @ $210 matches the techer with tech @2200... but you do not have to buy food.

why sell oil under $200 ??? that is if you want a top 10 finish...

Hi Boltar, jeez if i only had the time to war properly :D but then only if Boltar leads the warchat, its gotta be fun :o
-- BTW sending you a PM.

PapaSmurf, you were my first thought, sent a message to boneSaw but was too late you got # 5 by the time he got to read it. I would have to start and play DBD1. unless you started it already will have to check. I should still have the password will let you know if I have trouble finding it.

@ Tross I will keep you in mind, my rule of thumb is usually going with the first viable offer. I will see what kind of arrangements i end up with @DBD, if it fails I will let you know. unless Boltar says MKR in which case I may have to dust off the old war armor :p

kk, did realize it was that resource intensive...

what about a tracking table that is updated via a trigger that is executed only if a country has an active standing order on the market and their cash on hand changes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
country id | resource | ask price | ask qty | cash on hand | active | buy power
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

update the ask price, ask qty, cash on hand, active and buy power when those change.

buy power = cash on hand / ask price

Deactivate any standing order when buy power = 0 or when ask qty = 0.

hmmm... make it for only one good at a time, and only run the query on demand

filter to countries that have ask orders for the particular resource and sum cash on hand from country table?

the join can be on country id (assuming ask price and resource is stored with a country id and table containing cash on hand also has a country id) --- where resource = @resource

just thinking out loud I guess

lol, as nutty as this reset was you should be happy to be in the top 25 ;)

1. was going to go techer and had all labs built to 6600 acres.
--- Tech prices were really low
--- Got hit like ten times early reset due to an inability to get proper defense i.e. insufficient cash.

2. ended up having to convert to a Theo Oiler of all things
--- Manipulate the market just enough to sell oil at insane prices (i.e. very long nights of market camping)

3. had to actually bottom feed to recover lost acreage because it was to high of a loss. NOTE: I normally play All-x and leave everyone alone.

4. somehow thru a miracle of miracles the low end of the top 25 was still in range.

is there a way of adjusting the ask quantity based on a summarized cash on hand of n countries requesting?

Example: (i don't know the schema therefore... psuedo)

select askprice, sum(cashonhand), (sum(cashonhand) / askprice ) as qtyAsked

from countrymarket

where activecountry = 1

Group by askprice, sum(cashonhand), (sum(cashonhand) / askprice )

Can we get a link showing how big an order is on an ask price?

For those selling they may be willing to fill an order, but would prefer not to send all their goods at the lower price.

or provide a report showing the various asking prices and quantities willing to buy next to each one.

a market bot... a feed of the prices on the market and what is being bought at what price. Boxcar hosting has this for the alliance servers. It would be a nice to have unless it already exists for the non-alliance servers.

it just seemed like prices were a bit low or way too low for the start of a reset. even with a tech start the cashers and farmers would be reselling at higher prices.

why would anyone do a tech phase with prices this low, it's a dream come true for Indies/Cashers and Farmers. Gives them an early headstart, should be seeing more countries with high networths this reset. Republics in the top 10?

is there an express market bot available either thru boxcar or the earthempires IRC?

yeah

Next time work your way over to the PCH, a much more scenic route.

that was highway robbery btw, once you get out of the boondocks the prices will start going back to normal. That is everything except for the price of gas and real estate. California pays o so much more for gas.
