No, i'm just saying that our opinions of situations are massively biased, so it's kinda stupid to take AT posts seriously and constantly claim moral justification for our actions. Just using those clans as examples.

P.S.
I'd happily die in a war with pdm or against them, you guys are great, as our most players in this game. There's got to be a way to isolate and kill us, just find it and let's woar.

primary has the GDI rule to prevent suiciders.. does it not? if you farm someone then expect to get suicided.

definitely GDI helps, but someone can still all jet and multi tap you, then if you retal more than once they can go to town. Ruining someone's set is not overly difficult, though it doesn't seem to happen too often unless you forget GDI, in which case you will be destroyed.

I'm curious too, you've really the honed craft of slightly inconveniencing people who carry the tag name of a clan you hated years ago in a text based online game. Well done, old boy.

Man AT is so classy, i don't know why people take this board so seriously. Their are multiple perspectives to every action we take in this game, and people just take one based how they feel about a certain clan. Like two months ago, pdm and rd were best buds, everything either one did was totally acceptable. Now that relations have fallen off, everything RD does is terrible in PDM's eyes. Same with SOF, we were at eachothers throats a few months ago, now you see SOF heads posting on the boards in support of what RD does, what a farce!

No one is actually objective about this stuff and our definition of right and wrong is invariably coloured by how it benefits ourselves, so why pretend to be paragons of moral righteousness? If you hate a clan or person, just knock their teeth in, i hear there's this really good text based war game in which to do it in too.

It's a pretty interesting article actually. I think a lot more thought needs to go into how we structure our education system, whose construct is far outdated. The reason mathematics and sciences are so emphasized is because in the early stages of industrialization there was a need to produce workers with foundation in these subjects to work in factories and as engineers. Society has changed and so to should our education system change.

The author presents a good point, "how many people actually need a basis in algebra to do their job?" . Sure on ee, most of us are math nerds (myself included), but who actually uses polynomial equations, sine graphs, and trig after school? Hell i took a slew of math classes in high school and university, most concepts of which still aren't relevant even though i'm an engineer. Even with the engineering jobs i have had, i found my past schooling wasn't entirely useful as you learn most of what you need to know on the job (mind you i'm a civil engineer, so i won't speak for everyone). Most classes you take, you just forget a semester later anyway, so what's the point? What were useful skills to have entering the workforce though? Being able to communicate, being organized, knowing how to manage oneself and having discipline, problem solving skills and having an idea how to approach complex situations. Even learning how to control your motivation is important. Some of these were peripherally gained in school, but mostly i picked these up from my own experiences outside the classroom.

There are highly specialized job that require lots of study and training, without a doubt, but our goal for education should be to build a strong foundation for people to function successfully in the real world. Just my thoughts anyway. Also i'm not trying to hate on math, i personally love looking at the world through the lens of mathematics, but a lot of what's taught is not essential for everyone.

Going by that map, very little would be lost in that time frame.

Sure it's an issue for us, but do we really know if it's an issue for the planet in the long run?

2.5m if you read the graph correctly, sea level rise is also only one component of climate change. Weather patterns change and intensify, air currents flow differently.

And no, it's not an issue in the long run, if by long run you mean will it matter 1M years from now. But the effects will certainly reverberate for the next few thousand years or so and lead to massive changes in nearly all ecosystems.

Ya using geological time scale as an measuring tool is a bit irrelevant as it vastly outpaces our meager lifetime, cooling cylces take tens of thousands of years to manifest and as you mentioned a .5-1 degree change in temperature has HUGE repercussions. It's like saying the sun will run out of hydrogen in 7 Billion years so we should start building intersolar space craft to prepare for our planets annihilation.

The fact is within a century there WILL be an average rise of 2 degrees C even if we stopped all of our emissions right now. A .5 degree drop caused massive environmental changes, can you imagine what a 2 degree increase will do? The changes currently being recorded are unprecedented and against the current climactic cycle, and will only increase if we maintain the status quo. Sure in a few thousand years there might be another ice age, however right now we're about to irreparably change the planets environment. In the long run it won't matter, as life evovles to the new status quo, but evolution take millions of years, basically meaning most complex life on this planet, at this time, will disappear.

Plus outside of global warming, human populations are doing a great job of destroying biodiversity already, making these ecosystems even more fragile to sudden climate change. It's great that you can take the long term vision, what with your ten thousand year life span, but for the rest of us mere mortals, we'll have to focus on the near future.

Ya just boost the tpt formula and remove tech allies, OAs are difficult to make equal and change attacking substantially. In game messages are important for anonymous trash talking. There are several better forms of communication friends can use to coordinate (forum messages, ally boards, etc.) that i don't see the benefit of removing messages.

nah crest it was just me being stupid, there isn't a very good reason to hit with two days left, especially because i pub destocked. I thought maybe there was enough time to build those acres up and tech some more, should have calced it first.

But w/e, this is team and it's already stupidily messed up.

Team is like the post apocalyptic version of a1, where there's only a couple of large alliances trying to kill whatever they can. If mad max has taught us anything, oil will be scarce in the future and you've got to kill people who have flame throwers and stuff to get it.

ya you can't outrun a retal, in fact lots of alliances see it as bad form because you make their retal unnecessarily costly. The pacting and politcal make up of alliance has made land trading attractive, stop railing against the symptoms.

jabberwocky Game profile

i think you missed my point. All you focus on is that landtrading is bad, not why it has become widespread. It's more fun than grinding untags and you make friends with other alliances, so people are doing it more. Suiciding and tag killing is not going to stop that fact.

jabberwocky Game profile

this debate is stupid, the root cause of this problem is a lack attainable land in alliance. I net perfectly well in primary, because with a decent amount of skill and knowledge it isn't hard to find targets and grabbing isn't bogged down by pacts. But here you either have to DR camp the few untags with decent land (who are probably multi farms for tags anyway), all explore, or gangbang an alliance early in the set and farm them. I'll be honest, i don't really like land trading, because it's a retarded concept for a war game, but holy god is it preferable to the retard alternatives offered in 1a. It takes skill to DR camp? It takes skill to rape an alliance half your size and farm them? PA-lease.

We need to solve this land problem, obviously ghost acres didn't cover it completely.

Clans look at you and hope the best for you, they want you to be something special- like a top ten farmer or casher. Truth is if you end up playing around here you're more likely to be grinding untags for land and driving countries too small to defend themselves out of this game! Or you could be just like me...... a landtrading hobo with a shotgun.

ya get rid of OAs, grabbing would be a lot more annoying without the attack bonus. Most top players don't use OAs anyway because it's tough to do it equally without one person benefiting a lot more. Keep it in alliance though, it's good for retals.
