Police: Gun owner saved cop from attack by kids

POLICE ARE crediting a vigilant gun owner with saving the life of an Upper Darby cop Friday after he saw the officer being attacked and surrounded by a large group of teens.

"There were 40 kids. If it wasn't for the good Samaritan stepping forward, he'd have been dead meat," Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said. "There's no doubt they would have attacked him."

The most egregious of the incidents took place on Wayne Avenue near Marshall Road, less than a mile from the high school.

An officer who broke up a fight between two teen boys that had attracted a large crowd at that location was holding one of the combatants at bay when the teen's opponent attacked the officer, Chitwood said.

"As he breaks up the fight, he takes one kid and then the other jumps [on] him. Now he's fighting two of them and he's calling for an assist officer at the same time," Chitwood said. "There's a crowd of 40 or 50 kids watching the fight, and they all move in towards the officer."

That's when the good Samaritan, who lives on the block, came out of his house with a gun in his hand and told the teens to get away from the cop, Chitwood said.

"He had the gun in his hand, but he didn't point it at the kids, he just told them to back off," Chitwood said. "If this guy didn't come out and come to the aid of the officer, this officer would have had significant problems."

The 35-year-old gun owner, who has a concealed-carry permit, kept the group of teens at bay until responding officers arrived, Chitwood said.

A bot will have 0 spies except for the commies, they will also have all turns used.

another way is how they are named.... go back and look at the winning scores of previous resets, the countries in yellow are bots. However they only turn yellow after the reset is over.

as for farming bots, most spread their hits around on multiple bots... I did try hitting some bots with quads one reset, but other players sort of frowned on it and LG'd me for it -- saying I was being greedy :p Your call on how much risk you are willing to take on.

lol, it is hard to balance land with net worth as an all-x... it is very easy to get lots of land compared to your neighbors. tech starts tend to minimize this.

p.s. now BiBiGoN has grabbed my countries on a regular basis, usually managing to stay out of range of my retals, and I'm sure there is no love loss for many other players when it comes to BiBiGoN's country. Even so this was quite the interesting request :)

well last reset we had a similar situation that was leveraged into creating a war. this time around i figure you know what, lets make sure the facts are readily available and out there, so there are no questions as to what is occurring.

The FA's can consider this additional information being provided, and they will both have it at their disposal.

it also establishes that I am waiting for their decision and will honor the outcome.

-- so as for escalating the situation
the opposite is true, I am looking for a way to ensure it does not escalate into some misunderstanding and on into a war. Which I was interpreting their member's messages as an attempt in doing so. Preferably cooler heads prevail.

I would prefer this one does not get twisted and misunderstood.

--- Hopefully with that last message we go into a hold pattern until leaders work it out.

As to whether or not I personally get something out of all this -- I do not care, however considering the country name, the 2 attacks, and then the threat, I am thinking something needs to be done. wow, I do not know exactly what you were expecting out of threatening me with RoRs using 450 or 300 + chems.

however considering the threat has been made, i will wait for the leaders of both clans to decide on what I get out of all this.

If the leaders decide I get my retals then I will take my retals, If they decide i get x amount in FA then i will take the FA. I'm not at all that particular on how reps are paid.

What I do know however is that you attacked me, and I have yet to respond to your actions. I am hoping it is an amicable outcome, both clans are happy with.

As to whether or not I am happy or you are happy walking away from this is almost irrelevant at this point.

Looking at this as if it were a car accident,

i stepped out of my car and saw a little paint from your car on my bumper after you rear ended me. Now I was about to ask you if you were ok and let you go on your merry way no harm no foul. Although I had all kinds of wonderful options available to me. I'm a good guy so why take advantage of the situation with claims of whiplash, loss of hearing, and a knee I can now barely walk on.

I honestly wasn't expecting much of anything coming out of this perhaps a couple Foreign Affairs getting together to square things off and letting you walk away no harm no foul. But now I am thinking the only way I feel safe from something like this would be seeing a token FA package, and/or a full blown reset long DNH from CC. I mean a DNH where if a member breaks it they get kicked from CC and CC then proceeds to kill the string.

I honestly do not appreciate getting hit and then being threatened with RoRs if I take an action I am fully entitled to take. Not just simple Rors but RoR using 450 chems... I try to be fair as much as possible I got my land back, destroying the country seems a bit too much... unless they keep hitting and leave me no other choice. I would much rather just net quietly, then taking another players hard work away from them.

you really should just find another country to land grab...

I like to think of it as ... at some point in our future someone invents time travel and everything goes haywire.

i.e. brass bell travels back in time 300 million years, or hammer ends up in riverbed 400 milion years ago. Dinosaurs are all going WTF, why is it raining pots, kettles, knick knacks, and carpentry tools? However this is not as bad as the poor guy who ended up being chased by a dinosaur down in Texas...

the best strategy has been known forever... grow fat and win... i.e. bottom feed on countries 1/3 your size.

an all-x is just a separate class of game style or play. While I do not mind getting land grabbed every so often, and even enjoy the aspect of taking a retal every so often, I do not enjoy 5 LGs in 24 hours. I doubt any player going all-x would either.

all I am saying is add a flag next to GDI a player can select which clearly makes their country all-x.
to qualify:
No outgoing attacks from the country, and they have to remain all-x the whole reset.
They are allowed to take retals, but cannot attack a country that has not attacked them.
They have to meet predefined MMRs based on their land size.
-- Not meeting MMRs causes the country to lose land until it meets the standard.
-- similar to loss of military due to no cash or food on hand.

I feel this would be a great option for the game and allow many new players to learn it without being harassed, by players who have played the game for 15+ years. It provides a defined envelope for new players to learn the game in. Even old timers just looking for a break from the alliance servers, or just looking for a quiet reset could take advantage of something like this. A good place to try out different things, without watching their last week's worth of work suddenly evaporate into thin air.

those who want the full experience will still have it with plenty of other players who think very much the same way they do.

I am also limiting this to the primary server, which is the server players are instructed to start on, to learn.
-- they can still get land grabbed, they can still take retals. The frequency is just nixed to a single hit per 48-72 hours so the country has a chance to grow.

It also makes the players seeking heavy land work a little harder for their land, they would need to pay attention to when a country comes out of protection, and then race others for that available land grab. of course if they hit a country twice the same loss of GDI occurs, allowing an all x country to use missiles or whatever else they want against their aggressor.

It would also spread the land grabs out, where they would need to hit countries that are actively land grabbing. This thing about not enough land on the server is BS, because regardless of player base size there never will be enough land for those looking to play heavy land. just look at FFA server and the land trading into the 100k+ land countries.

Alternately drop 100 bots into primary and let the LGs play with no risk whatsoever, which is basically what occurs when they hit a country 1/3 their size, 5 times in 24 hour period. They might as well be hitting bots, to minimize their own risk even further.

Is there some way to keep an All-x country safe from multiple land grabs in a single day?

It kind of sucks getting up to 15K acres and losing 2500 acres because commies are jumping to their next phase in the game. @ 8-9 acres a turn, that is a loss of over 200 turns. Hitting one of T-5 countries as an all-x is out of the question. Unless they were to decide to destroy their own reset and just AB one of those T-5 countries into the ground.

It would be nice if a an All-x can only get grabbed once in a 48 hour period. There could be an MMR requirement to ensure AL-x countries do not run without defense. As long as they qualify then it should be very difficult to bottom feed on one of those countries, especially if they are in GDI. At least those land hungry countries would have to take heavier risks, as it is now it is just a follow the leader monkey see monkey do type game. Top player A hits Country 1 and then 4 other countries feel they need to do the same.

I can respect country # 1 maybe even give a little leeway to country # 2 --- but the rest of them are just copycats, who can careless about the player base, and detrimental to the overall game. give them bots so they can farm countries to their hearts content, and feel like they have accomplished something important.

If an all-x decides to land grab a country that has not hit them then they lose their all-x status -- i.e. break GDI.
However if an ALl-x is in GDI and just playing their own game, with decent defense for the land they have, they should not be farmed by top players. There is no reason for an All-X country to be losing 2500-3000 acres of land overnight.

almost sounds like the E2025 limited server with silver, gold, and platinum accounts. Only those who paid a small fee could play the server. The paid accounts also provided extra turns and land twice per reset.

i dunno about buying turns as it would completely throw the game balance off. For $20-30 dollars someone could buy enough turns to kill another country. Those with cash to spare would have one heck of an advantage. perhaps to make something like that work it would have to be capped at like 10 turns per day. so the max someone could get is an extra 600 turns in a reset. However this could potentially lock up the top ten to those with cash.
