are you saying DK is not important enough to listen to? :p When someone attacks us and blames us for what we feel are false reasons, of course we'll stand up and state our side of the story...

I remember the dec -- it was full of untrue statements presented as facts.

If it had just said "we're hitting LaF because we want to fight someone!" no one in LaF would have had much issue with it on the grounds that Forgotten and I both bring up... no one was overly upset you joined the war, if you had contacted us first and asked to join I expect that we would have said yes

and if you're saying now "we had a few targets to choose from and we chose laf because it was an opportunistic target" then that's fine... is that what you're finally admitting to? :p

we have no issue with imag's reasoning for war -- they were clear, they just wanted to hit us... they were pretty clear about that..

we just thought it was stupid of DK to try to paint us as the bad guys, when we barely touched them and other alliances were grabbing them like DK was passed out on prom night

we're just saying they should come clean and tell the truth :p

i think the point that anyone in LaF made all along wasn't that the NA issue didn't lead to DK declaring war on LaF.... that doesn't make sense

The issue we had, which ALSO doesn't make sense, is that DK decided to hit a clan (LaF) who was not anywhere close to being the biggest offender of hitting their countries, yet, they attempted to demonized LaF as the big bad grabbers who are ruining their set and need to be stopped.

Just call it what it was... a war of opportunity, with the hope of helping get your clan a quick win by jumping into a fight you shouldn't have been in in the first place.

That's all we ever discussed, we were fine killing you guys since we were already at war anyways :p

ya, i as well would love to see issue based wars instead of the grudge wars we see now-a-days...

what I don't want to see is trying to spin non-issues into issues, just due to a grudge or a desire to hit s specific clan, ie the example Forgotten is talking about

ya, we're seeing a migration of users away from Alliance and towards FFA, it seems.

This is almost expected, as the politics and environment in Alliance is still toxic, which is quite unfortunate.

I personally figured that once we had a better group of developers, people would start caring more and trying to establish better order and play the game the fun way we used to, not continue the policies that lead to EC beginning to die.

Not quite on the WW2 stuff....

Germany FS'ed Czechoslovakia (politically), and Britain and France did nothing. When Poland was FS'ed, that's when the allies actually did something.... but they basically just sat around in France and waited for the entire Phony war before the blitzkrieg happened in the west. I think you're also missing out on the campaign in Scandinavia, which had more action in the early part of the war for the allies, as well as the African campaign which was largely done by Italy.

So, on AT 1940.... The czechs, who were recently tag killed, are flaming their LDP's for not helping them, Poland is requesting help but they're basically tagkilled already. Britain and France put together a quick CS in the north while they save turns and Churchill is spinning things to try to get aid/help from Britain's longtime uNAP, the USA. The USA is still netting.

like I said, we're not in the business of telling people who played which countries... that's something that's normally worked out ingame.

if countries which were later deleted were used to attack another tag, that's something leaders of that tag can contact me about and I'll look into it accordingly.

I don't follow the politics on this server at all, so you'll need to give me lots of info on who attacked who and such... "The countries that suicided LAE" doesn't do anything to jog my memory :p

well that convo shouldn't have been posted, as it was for internal use with Syn and staff was going to post information regarding it....

We're not in the business of telling players who played which countries, except in extreme circumstances, and even then it is meant to be kept more/less behind closed doors.

Anything that would have been posted on a Syn-related thread about this would have been just noting that a malicious individual detagged the countries in Syndicate's tag yesterday.

That's really all we're willing to comment on publicly at this point.

I contacted you about it to confirm, after two members approached me with an email.... it was all on the up and up, like I said....

I don't think anyone carried grudges forward this set... we just assumed it would be round 3 of the cross retalling vs non cross retalling war

we keep discussing the same things over and over again... do we really need to keep doing it?
We want everyone to enjoy the game and play it the way it was meant to be played: in 5 man stand alone teams, with tag protection developed from within. If you guys are doing this now (which it appears you all are?) then I know I have no other issues with you guys... I imagine most other people feel the same way I do.

I'm looking forward to playing the server in the proper context moving forward :)

We're pretty committed to NOT making a duplicate of the Alliance server, at least not until there are enough players to warrant it.

The team server is moving forward I think.... they've gotten over a hump in terms of policies migrating to a new way of thinking, and it seems that the "war" there is over.

i think everyone has grasped many of the aspects we hope to accomplish with Facebook.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about the Facebook type structure when we were dreaming up the team server. Get 4 of your friends together and take on the rest of the server. Torment hit it on the head in terms of achievements.... group achievements are awesome and if we can make it so Pang, Torment, Spawn, Syoto and NOW3P all have news events together about playing EE, we can recruit more of their friends potentially.

The biggest thing I want to do with Facebook is start the move to new mediums. Webgames are great for folks at work and stuff, people in their 20s and beyond, people who played this type of stuff back in the day. We want to move to Facebook and mobile devices so that we can target the new generation of users -- ie high school students (which is what most of us were when we started playing) who can play from their phones at lunch or on the bus, the 20something players who never got into games back in the day.... lots of new, untapped markets for EE.

We make the game so that it becomes whatever you want it to be... a quick way to spend time when you're travelling on the bus/train/car or something you can reall sink your teeth into in the way many of those on Alliance have.

you do know that the people you are calling "suiciders" have been targetted by REAL suiciders and no the difference, right? :p

you throw that around without really knowing what it actually entails.... as someone who has knowledge of the war plans this set, I will say that they are NOT at all suicidey, and as Slagpit said, MKR has not really been targetted....

in the end, stop whining and start playing, I'm starting to want to continue the war just because you're trying to paint us as people in the wrong.

Remember that you killed countless countries last set, all of whom are still pissed and happy to kill all the pro-cross-retallers. That's something you continually forget to bring up, but a fact that is WHY you are getting hit at all this set. Actions and policies have consequences, and I don't think you quite realize the implications that YOUR decisions over the last two sets caused to happen.

well, I spent a few minutes today working on EE and the FB api, and I played my turns through facebook today, and got the EE site to post a nice picture of a lolcat to my wall, so we're definitely going in the right direction there :p

now to make it so you can send ally requests through facebook! :p

our idea isn't that we will flood alliance with new blood, it's that we'll have several servers for that solo facebook style experience, but some of those players will migrate to alliance for sure.

as far as graphics and stuff, I've thought of a few solutions to use some javascript and such to add in some animations and visual representations...

I think the main thing to remember is that EE is an old-school game which currently caters to old-school users. We are looking at bringing that style of game to a new generation of users, focusing more on taking advantage of the mediums available to us today than anything else.

I'm very confident in what we have coming down the pipe, so we'll see how it goes :)

Also, I just want to take a minute to thank all that have donated to us already.

We'll be setting up the patron system soon (with access to the illusive Patron board) to thank those who donated :)

exactly, Paladine. That is our main worry.

We want to do this right, and doing it right means taking a more methodical approach. I do this kind of stuff at work all the time, and whenever someone wants t jump the gun and dive right into their ad spend for PPC marketing, the budget always gets bled through more quickly and with inferior results compared to a proper, holistic approach.

Also, this info isn't really public yet, but I since Tavi is getting busy IRL, I've been meeting with one of my designer friends at work to get him to work on a new template for ingame & facebook with me. His work is some of the best I've ever seen, so I'm pretty happy to get him on board to help us out. :)

The big thing is that, like qz said, we have theses to work on... once these are done, we'll be in a great position to wrap up outstanding projects quicker and not have a giant responsibility dangling above our heads anymore. :p

Like we've said all along though is that phase 1 is rebuilding the game & working on improving some of the core elements. We are in this phase now, and moving towards the end of it. The second phase is the expansion into new markets - ie developing for Facebook and mobile devices specifically, as that is where our new users will come from.

So I guess the key is patience -- we put off a lot of things IRL to get EE off the ground, so we hope that everyone will understand that we need to balance things out a little for both EE and the staff's careers to move in the right direction. :)

Hi all...

just a few notes on all those things, since I have a meeting in a few minutes :p

1) We're still working on updating the public site & ingame to help retain users we get from marketing. We pay to bring the users in here, and I'm not confident we'll keep enough of them with our current setup to warrant blowing all our money on advertising yet.
2) We're moving toward the Facebook model still -- this requires a lot of work on the core game code to make it work with both setups.
3) qz, slag and I all put a ton of work into things late last year and early this year to get the game ready on time to save the the community and keep it together. There was some fallout for all of us IRL for it, and I know that I've been dealing with that for the last month or two (thesis work ;))

So I guess the short of it is.... the pilot project we did last month showed some positive results, but we still have to do a bit of redesign and content flowing to ensure we retain a large chunk of our leads.
Moving into facebook, we will gain from social marketing through that, and IMO, that is where the future of EE lies. The expansion in servers was done partially for that reason :)
