I think it is because of the speed of the game. Most strategies cannot afford for someone to log out for lengthy periods of time because of the turns they would accrue and maybe not be able to play (like a c/i).

Hitting people who can not hit back in most cases is bottom feeding. In today's game, hitting people who cannot hit you back is hitting a bot. The human players who are left and have experience, and even many who do not have experience, will chase a person down to retal at all costs. There is one other factor to consider on this server that can almost be ignored on the other and that is turns. They come so quickly that a human player can retal anyone.

That was my point.

As a side note, I liked the game better when we had more people and allies as it made it easier to get to know people and for newcomers to learn how to play. We did only hit people, but there was a careful consideration, a respect so to speak, before doing so because we usually knew the person. As a solo server, a person who cannot wall or net will suicide because they have no other options.

As the game is today, grabbing a bot is more efficient unless one just wants a challenge that hurts both human players in the end.

I have sold a lot of stuff putting the numbers in the wrong place. Fortunately, sometimes the quantity of whatever I was selling was too large and the game would stop it.

When we had 150 human players, we also had allies. You did not hit someone and get away with it unless you were scraping the bottom. If you are scraping the bottom, you may as well hit bots.

We lost so many people that the game dynamics changed, which is why we now have bots. If a person wants to fight it out, that's what they will get when they hit the wrong person. Also, when we had 150 people, 100 of them were asking questions of those ranked above them week after week and trying to learn to play better. Today, that large percentage are multies and/or are now just here to screw up the game for other players with no intentions of learning how to play.

I made several posts predicting the decline of this server if allies were removed when those debates were occurring. My basis for this prediction was the mentorship that allies provided, and also the making of new friends through the alliances which lead to people coming back each week. Game play was competitive and back then you rarely saw a $30mil score.

It is much different now and is really up to each individual who is playing to help either grow the game, by helping those who wish to learn, or finish killing the server by being d1ckheads week after week.

Glad you guys started this discussion. I was under the impression that on the Express server you got the bonus automatically at "an interval" without having to be logged out for the required period.

Not debating/disagreeing with you...the "If" in your second sentence is the problem with the last bot change. The tech prices are consistently higher and the commie with the 10% commission cannot compete selling at the current low unit prices and high expenses a good one usually has. However, with 24-48 hours to go, prices will likely improve and playing delayed, as Celphi mentioned, provides a better chance than playing aggressive from the beginning as a C/I might usually play.

I am using this time to play techer (which I suck at, so am getting more experience) after playing a decent c/i the weeks in which I get to play all of my turns. That is another variable with Express, and all of us share it, but is difficult as a commie with goods on market at 130-155 and a bot dropping some for 90...turns accruing as the c/i waits. Compare that to a techer who may be topped by a bot!

I played delayed casher before the introduction of the bots, but was looking like one after their initial inception, so moved to commie. Gradual adjustments to the bots have them playing various govs now and using their turns. A delayed [any gov] shouldn't be mistaken for a bot now if one pays attention to the op, assuming they did one, and the prices during the last day or two should balance out as people begin destocking and jumping.

I might give my old delayed casher another run in the next week or two while unit prices are low, low, low!

@ Kingme: C/I is out of the race with the last adjustments, IMO, but maybe someone will prove me wrong so I can get back to it.

Congrats to Celphi, and all the top 10's. Glad to see Getafix back in action. I missed about 4 hours of selling and the wheels fell of my wagon after playing strong all set.

Nice explanation for all of us as to the inefficiency of hitting late. It looks like a good deal until one does the math.

I haven't had that problem with him, but have with others. That's the ugly part of the game and isn't beneficial to the one who RoRs if he's hoping to have a good finish.

I played like a noob... had to go run an errand with 2 hours to go. Got home with 30 minutes left, put stuff on market for resell, and got busy with something else. Lost $3mil net (stuff must have sold) trying to make $5 mil.. Stupid. Still, it was fun to get to play demo for the first time in awhile. Usually I get screwed with when trying to play a different strategy, so thanks to everyone for leaving me alone.

Were you around when the "earf/frae" character appeared for a few months? Same kind of person; perhaps even the same person.

While I have never had any in-game problems with him, my read of him (which could be wrong, but I doubt) is that he is indeed a veteran player who is bored with the traditional game of EE. His "game" is to incite reaction from others, and perhaps create a movement to change some of the coding, which he considers "fallacies" of the game. Until then, he is issue challenges, top feeds, exploit, things that one may think shouldn't be allowed in this game. As a veteran, he knows, like the rest of us, that what we see is what we get with this game.

Some will say the game is dying; some will say it is what it is. Regardless, it is still fun and free past time, with an interesting community.

i cant hit bots they are all too low nw. i didnt threaten you, you threatened me despite being half my nw (he had 7 mil and not turns or money and I had 4.5 mil with turns and money). i hit u cuz u were the fattest person i hadnt hit yet so maybe u need more turrets next time. if u see the news i was hit by Huh but i didnt retal him because it wasnt the best move for me. That message made me lmao because other than last set, the dude usually self-destructs. I have even tried to help him a few times (not self-destruct, but to learn to play, though I destruct him once or twice)

So, after accusing me of being a suicider because of planning a retal (he was ranked 1 and was like 5 when he hit me), he began hitting #73, before dumping all of his land.

Immediately after I spied on him again, #79, who is half my size, attempts to spy on me twice, along with another country. When I called him out on it, he says:

Then, "bayrock" suicides another country. I think it is safe to say the guy is a nut. He could play well if he wanted, but to defy and to taunt people who retal, and then get pissed and screw other countries because he can't handle the repercussions, means we just need to police him ourselves if he is allowed to continue to play. We can kill his countries every week without even speaking to him, which he seems to like.

But he thought the 18k acres of land and high expenses of spending all of his turns and money on military made him better than the rest. That is not the logic of a good player.

I think he has potential, and have told him so. Have tried to help to him understand why he has repeated bad luck, which is not because he keeps forgetting to use GDI. It is because of his antics.

There are enough old timers still here that we are not going to let one little fluff ruin a game that is already hurting, nor ruin a country- alliances or not. Sure, there are a lot of issues with the game, but it also *free* to play, free to leave. Besides, no amount of money or coding will eliminate the idiot factors such as Kingme mentioned in his opening post and others have since commented
