Yeah, I was wishing I hadn't had GDI because I wanted to flatten him, too. I grabbed him once and he did about 10 spy ops on me. I was expecting a retal, and let that slide although it was excessive. But then he started talking BS and threatening and I don't like that.

You must not have had GDI and was the first one he saw after going berserk.

lol....sorry brandon; I think I upset him. He had a tantrum and went off on me with a bunch of spy ops. He said he would whip my ass if I weren't hiding behind GDI. I told him he couldn't whip my ass because he wasn't big enough. That pissed him off even more and it looks like he moved on to you.

This is too funny not to share, and a lesson learned... I decided to play a round this afternoon on my phone from work. You know how hard it is to see the freaking numbers when playing on a phone.

I kept getting interrupted and had to hide my phone several times. I finally got a minute alone and sealed the deal with the market.

I was trying to buy some tanks from the PM, but somehow managed to put 800,000 barrels of oil in the text field. I only wanted to buy 150K tanks, so not even sure how I managed to get 800K barrels in there.

Needless to say, I will never recoup that $250 million.

I guess that is what I get for trying to be sneaky while working. Anybody need any oil? I'll have to sell it to you for $301/barrel just to make a dollar, but I'm willing to do that. lmao

Thanks, blid. I thought since my strike would be a retal to a double tap, GDI would allow it.

If I am going to play multiple servers, I need to take some GDI and Humanitarian notes for future reference!! Can't keep up with it....

Thanks for the info, blid. I don't like people who sucker punch an unexpecting country...regardless of who it is.... and unload all of their turns on them, and then brag about what they did.

I can understand that in alliance or FFA when feuds spill over to the next set. But to randomly select people who are netting or being distracted by war with another person, and then come brag about it here, is cowardly in my opinion. I would help him understand that if I were not having a good set.

The one thing I really like about this server is that while we have a group of great competitors in the game, we have fun with each other on the boards, and almost all desire to keep the game clean.

Could they have had indies producing spies at one time and converted the indies to something else..like MBs? I don't think many people are MBRs in express, but I have met a few.

Bearcat, I think there is more to that story than just your comments above, and why mark out your country number?

The news indicates that country #1, presumably your country since you are proud of what you did, began the missile barrage...9 of them... at #16 without provocation.

Then he (#16) responded with his missiles, ABs, etc, which was followed by a random hit from #57, then GS's from #141. Then you, country #1, used your stored turns to finish him.

If you are country #1, you have ruined three countries this set...storing turns, then suiciding, ambushing, etc. It's not hard to be macho man like that.

If any part of what I have stated is incorrect, let me know so I can retract. In viewing the news, this is what I see.

Blid, I was hit twice in tourney, with the country buying military or just producing a bundle to double his net over mine, after his second hit. I could not retal without declaring war due to GDI. I thought once you were hit twice, you were free to do as you wish to the opposing country. So I do not understand your comments and/or still do not understand GDI. GDI is kicking my ass as much as the other countries are!! I can't wrap my brain around it.

Digging up an old thread, but similar question...

I was double tapped by a country similar in size. He bought out his market and made a nice jump afterwards...like twice my size after the purchases. I could not retal because of GDI.

I thought that once someone double tapped, the GDI protection was discontinued and you could retaliate at will.

Xinhuan, thanks, but to what extent? Was my inability to perform a non-harmful spy op today due to the fact that I attempted on someone who had not previously attacked me during the last 6 hours of the game, which is the protection period against harmful ops according to the GDI guidelines?

I am just trying to figure out when the cutoff period for spying and, thus for me, attacking is. It has happened a couple of sets and I can't find the pattern. The 1/12 rule wasn't applicable today by my calculations, but I included the numbers in case someone wants to check my math, and it was not a harmful op as described by GDI. I can see that landgrabbing would be part of the 6 hour rule.

If you enjoy EE, don't quit completely because of the behavior of a few on FFA. Play a solo or the alliance server and help keep EE alive.

I do not know your specific situation and am not going to research it, but the behavior here on FFA usually goes like this: you create a few countries to play in your own little world; the big guys come in and gang bang your small countries; you fluff about it; they accuse you of being a suicider (but logic doesn't tell them that suiciders wouldn't complain on the boards because they are more effective if anonymous); you stand up for yourself and say you aren't a suicider; they tell you that you are or that you should have tagged up, announced yourself, etc (ie: it is your fault you got killed); you are adamant that you aren't a suicider; they prove that you are because you attempted to defend yourself the most effective way possible when outnumbered; personal attacks begin against you; you quit the server or EE; personal attacks continue and you find out how little those who enjoy this free-to-us website care if the member size shrinks; then, in a last ditch effort to save your feelings, you are invited to join the clan that gang-banged you.

There are numerous threads about this and you will find that each case will be almost exactly as I described above.

It must be their recruiting process.

There are also some very good people here in FFA but, unfortunately, the dominant wolf pack behavior of some change your view of the game more quickly than the relationships with the good guys can be formed.

I am going to piss off some people on this server that I haven't pissed off in awhile, but it is because I care about the game and know it needs members in order for us to have a place to play.

I was at $5,136,846 and the other country was at $4,807,727 at the time of the standard spy op attempt for testing the GDI rules, 1/12 requirement, and Marshal's thoughts. I forgot the numbers to the country above me, but less than a few hundred thousand.

I am assuming this falls under the "last 6 hours" stipulation and GDI is considering a regular spy op a harmful attack in this case. Can anyone confirm?

No fluff, really?

I guess I would be the anyone else to whom you referred. Taking an economics class and understanding supply and demand has nothing to do with a $30 to $50 undercut of typical prices and, therefore, delaying our sale.

The similar strategy would typically include selling goods for market price, which is set by the purchasers and is the highest price willing to be paid. People are willing to pay more than $104 for turrets.

So, we should be able to complain about a low-ball strategy someone used in a game without being insulted.

Thanks, Marshal. We are outside of last 30 turns since I first noticed this GDI barrier several hours ago, so not sure that applies. I just tested by attempting the country directly beneath me and the one directly above me, and no cigar.

I also searched the Humanitarian part of the wiki and read about the 1/12 requirement, which the target was within. I will post actual numbers after the set ends so you guys can help me.

braden, thanks for the thorough response. Sorry I didn't thank you sooner; I must have been in my tanks lol

blid, sorry for the perceived highjacking of your thread, but your initial post was a question I have had for awhile. Here's another:

Why is it that GDI is preventing me from spying on people ranked around me today? We have similar net and acreage. Yesterday, I was spying on people ranked significantly higher...almost twice my size.

Is that the final 6 hour rule and is a simple standard spy op considered a harmful attack? If so, that means no more landgrabbing unless someone has already hit you. I never noticed that rule before, but I usually am not grabbing land on the final day either.

It seems that sometimes it is inconsistent, but I think it is that there is just more to understanding it than the wiki may provide. I certainly understand what it means when you do NOT have it, so am not complaining. I just don't understand what is occurring today.

Again, this is in Express if it matters.

Thanks again, guys.

Thanks, Vic.

I usually play tech and grab, so my timing was perfect last set with the casher and crazy cheap market prices. All-x isn't too bad on a casher, but when the low returns kicked in it seemed extremely weird, especially since it was my first attempt at it and I am accustomed to grabbing.

Good luck to you guys this set and, again, nice statistics you all posted.

I was under the impression that most who played all x-er used rep, but sounds like some of you are doing it with commie. Is that right?

I tried for the first time last set, but used rep. I seem to always get complacent with my land at some point each set and fall behind. I just began playing express a few months (after playing E2025 15+ years ago). Trying to use express to get back into the groove.

Nice stats to all of you. I finish top 25-35 with my small land size, but haven't made it over the hump yet.

Haven't played tourney in 15 years, so update me please:

When the set restarts each month, does your "stuff" carry over with your country name, or do you start over each month with 100 acres and new country?

Thanks.
