Not likely, masdas.

You can't farm people and then ask for favors. I'd reckon the only pact you're going to get is ass pact.

Just a guess.

Having said that, you have to consider that not everyone knows what a country is named after. and Hneft isn't completely off base (although perhaps he could have shown a bit more tact) with saying that just because you name a country after a person who just died you should get immunity from things. If I named all my countries Mad Morticia, I might be a bit upset if they were hit, but I can't necessarily expect every player in the game to know who Mad Morticia was or to realize that I'm doing a tribute to her.

Having said that, if the person deliberately targeted them BECAUSE they're a tribute. That's especially fluffish.

I'll be running that tag this set. I'd like to take the time to thank my friends at ICD. Great people, great clan. I was lucky enough to hang out there for a few sets.

Thought I'd go solo this set. Won't be grabbing outside the tag other than maybe the bot countries if there are any. Due to my work schedule, I can't always play every day, so if you spy me up and see 120(120), it's not because I'm prepping to suicide. You'll also notice that my countries all have guitar or amp or some kind of musical name. Except for Billville. Which is where I live. Never been tremendously lucky in life so when something goes wrong, it's "just another day in Billville".

I'd appreciate a DNH if y'all would be so kind. I don't have a website and have no plans on putting a multi-member tag on the map. Just me goofin' off and trying to have a little fun. Thanks.

Might be my last. I will be playing under the ESD tag. Likely by myself. Just wanted to get this out now so that the established clans could have time to decide on giving me a DNH or not.

I know some of you don't much care for me, but I'm just looking to play in peace and mind my own business. I'd think that between Fordy and NBK, I've had enough teeth knocked out and I really haven't said much at all on FFAt for a year now.

Just think it over. I'm not looking for trouble. I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to the game and would just like to play in peace, my way, when I have time. I don't even have a site. I DID but between a couple HD reformats and several sets in other clans, I couldn't even log in to my site if I wanted to.

I just ask that y'all kick it around and let me know one way or another.

Thanks

Fair question. The simplest answer is that countries fighting wars want cheaper oil, so they get their Oiler buddies to flood the market with as much cheaper oil as possible

I never liked running oilers because the damn market is so weird. Unless you have enough countries to keep daily stocks bought up under the prices you want to charge, it's not that great a strategy and honestly, the market is only gonna support oil to a certain price.

It's tempting to start selling oil "high" when a war breaks out, but a Casher or Techer for example has to buy food, oil, AND weapons. To me, that's why I'd run me some teched up rainbows to fight a war with.

If you're getting low balled by 10 bucks a barrel and can't sell, you obviously don't understand or fail to observe some fairly simple economic principles.

Here's your sign.

To mirror real life energy issues, maybe a new tech should be added to the game. That being Renewable Energy Tech. A tech that reduces the amount of oil that is required for war ops and reduces the expenses of a country's daily operating expenses by the percentage of tech investment in renewable energy.

Supply v. Demand.

With fewer players on the server, it becomes easier to manipulate the commodity markets. The old "rule of thumb" in terms of specialization doesn't always apply now. Not being "self sufficient" causes more vulnerabilities than it used to.

Back in the day when there were 8,000 countries (or more) on the server, the dynamic was very different. The irony of the whole thing is that today, a large net gaining clan could use their financial advantage to control the oil and food market and simply lay waste to all competition if they planned it right.

We all know that DUE to the specialization advantages to certain Gov/Economy combos, that also outlines the vulnerabilities they experience.

Truth is, the "rainbow strategies" that everyone has always made fun of becomes THE strategy when war breaks out and only THEN if they have enough commodity reserves to initiate a crippling FS. Note that I didn't say high kill FS.

This game is evolving in ways maybe unexpected and unintended, but if I wanted a piece of someone, I'd AB or BR their asses into the ground and then use them as land farms. For too long, the traditional notions of the FS has stayed inside the box.

I think too many players want to be somewhere that is an issue of "safety in numbers".

While to some degree that notion applies, if you feel you have to be in the Biggest Clan, you really are missing a lot of the fundamental principles of this server. If that's what you want, fine. If your individual success is all you are looking at, then join some monster tag that will let you do yo thang.

Anyone can join a 300 member tag and feel all safe and do things they might not were they in a smaller tag that had to actually mind its manners.

Joining a big tag means you're missing the spirit of the server, IMO. Good luck to you in finding a home though. :)

I think any tag that doesn't declare on FFAt is a tag that can't be allowed to get too big.

I hate to say that, but time after time, in the interest of being receptive to new blood, some jerk with an axe to grind takes advantage of our goodwill.

While I understand that "new players" may not have found or participate in this Forum, I also know that this game is NOT attracting new players by the truckload via random Googling. No. What's more likely is that these "new tags" are simply comprised of the same Bad Actors we suffer reset in and reset out.

I think anyone who KNOWS me understands that I've always gravitated towards running or being in smallish tags and that I'm one of the first to welcome that on the server. I also understand some of the attitudes I see on this thread and have no valid argument to dispute their points of view.

TKO is a good choice. PANLV needs members. Look at last round's top clans and pick one.

I''m in ICD, but my personal opinion is that your participation would be more needed in one of the smaller, top netting tags on the server.

A better solution for lack of better terms would be bot countries generated by Admin that would act like any player-run country and would have varying strategies.

They would retal hits on escalating levels based on defined guidelines and to make things more even, give those bot countries exact and daily refreshed missile levels per acre in order to discourage outright land farming.

I can't believe this isn't within the capabilities of programming.

It's reasonable to expect small and one man tags to post up their intentions because we know through experience that the ones that don't very often are the ones that do the damage.

I mean, I could make Clan Dragon next set, state my intentions and then screw someone over, but it's really unlikely that I would do that if I'm willing to come on FFAt and put my fluff on the board.

It's also not unreasonable in my opinion to expect new or unknown players/clans to provide some Q&A with the "established" players/clans on the server.

I understand that this is Free For All, but if you want a place among the peaceful, you probably ought to be willing to jump through a hoop or two because the new players HAVE to understand that our goodwill gets taken advantage of.

How is the server treating you?

While I'm hanging out with some really super awesome people in a large clan right now, I pretty much think I'll end my FFA "career" either solo or just with a friend or two.

I haven't run small in a long time and honestly don't have the time to keep up on FFA doings working 12 hour days, so I thought I'd see what the people who ARE running small think.

Also, you have to understand that if you do stupid things and pay for it, I can't exactly consider your point of view to be objective, but I'd really like to hear what you soloists are experiencing as well as the 2,3,4 man bands running in FFA.

I like to think that if you get to know enough people on the server and actually take the time to hang out with them in their clans for a set or two that you can run small or solo without any trouble. One of the best things I ever did was move around to different clans and play for them a set or two.

There are still a couple that I haven't played with, but I think I'm a better player because of the diversity I've been able to experience and the lessons I've learned from a multitude of very good players because I took the time to be a part of their clan for a while.
