@hsifreta: If the wiki is not fully up to date or is fully filled in with all key information by people with more knowledge about the rules, don't come and tell me I'm wasting your time. Not cool. Especially when Xinhuan had to correct you about a certain issue. Read the wiki, but it does miss a lot of things. Called EXPLANATIONS. Including pros, cons, more in depth explanations.

"Seeing that we can't continue until you understand what GDI is" Seriously dude? I know what GDI is. If you're gonna waste MY time by insulting me, don't bother posting. I stopped reading after 2 paragraphs. For someone who is trying to explain something, you are very patronizing. Not very cool man.

Also, you make it seem like I'm an idiot, which is not anything anyone would appreciate. If you wanna CORRECT something I say or ADD something to it, or even rectify anything or restate something you said (out of something someone would have misread), go ahead. But don't patronize me. Don't assume I have minimal game experience, nor that I know everything.

hsifreta, I disagree. The disadvantages differ. They don't have to be monetary by any means. They can be messing up different strats that require you to attack such players. We can't look at everything from a money perspective. It includes land, war, special attacks during war etc.

@TDA101 and braden. TDA101 what you said in relation to braden does make sense, but it still does not disprove what I said. You can only focus on production once more AFTER having taken a beating. So, you're not being given any advantage. And this is my point. So, you lost money, tech, food, army guys, oil (oil is VERY expensive), plus costs of rebuilding destroyed buildings. So, you LOST those which will never be recovered unless you get it back via an attack (although you still lose oil in the process - so this is a lose lose situation).

@braden, I will take that as a no. If you can't answer a simple question (the same you asked me), I'll take it as a no.

So, far just you and me buddy. So reckon nothing.

So, you disagree that we have little time to do whatever it is we wanna do? Wow. Ok, now I know you mustn't have read my entire post *facepalm*.

I do play it, not as much as the 1A though. In any case, if your own premise is to be held accurate (which I disagree with), then why not make the GDI obligatory at no cost? Either what I said in my OP makes sense or this makes sense. Doesn't this at the VERY least make sense to you?

Ok, so if I attack you, raid your food, pillage your whole freaking land etc., you lose military, money (right? didn't notice if you do), food and I leave some of your buildings in ruin. So, how is THAT to your advantage? It's not! Something you're not saying here for this to make sense.

Let me fire the question back at you now: do you play this server often?

midevil.chaos Game profile

Feb 7th 2014, 22:29:53

I can't say I understand your point of view to say that people play peaceably. It is almost impossible to net and get a decent finish - unless you excel with those type of strats. Besides, if you play peaceably, I might attack you twice and someone else might as well and then a third person and so on, screwing up your plan. Which is no different in the end from one person suiciding for example. If you have three people attacking you, you gotta deal with three people on three fronts. On the other hand, if it's only one person, you can devise a new strat more easily.

Assuming I dec war, and you only play tomorrow at 5pm (my time), well, isn't that a waste of time? Since this is the express server, we have limited time. Don't you agree with this premise? Thus, while I wanna beat the crap out of you lol, and hoping you don't do too much damage to me lol, I take away the element of surprise by saying "hey douchebag, I wanna beat the crap out of you, uhm... but you know.... accept the war dec first" LOL. The element of surprise is gone.

@blid, you're gonna have to give us more detail about what you're trying to ask.
I'll answer the second part: easy, it's the EXPRESS server, so that means quick attacks, big massive ones, and when someone pisses you off, you piss them back off. Fair, no?

@braden? 16 points? To be used in 5 days lol. Damn.
Well, I attack you via ABs for example, I have to dec war first? But, if I don't dec war, I can't do AB's? That's what you're saying? That is a fair thing to do. In this case, since it's the express server: dec war on 5 people (as it IS a 5 day play only would be fair), and we could dec peace within 12 hours or so. Would be fair like this.

What? Your rank has EVERYTHING to do with your NW! What are you talking about? I understand that someone might be hoarding money, food or oil, but that's part of the game.

Are you kidding me? I remember warring with ICN against some other clan (can't remember which one). I was there like an idiot with loads of turns not being able to attack because someone was in the GDI. That's not war, that's boring! In a war, you SHOULD be able to screw those peace times conventions when IN a war. Or else, why bother waging war? Seriously.

Right, but setting aside the bonus for possibly obtaining GDI, here we are talking about joining the GDI while paying $3. So, in this case I think the payoff is too expensive for what it brings to the table. I'm on the express server for example, getting attacked and I can't do anything. Because of that damn GDI that THEY are in. I'm trying to run a specific strat, which apparently, doesn't work on the express server. So, in the long run, the 1A would screw a lot of people over as well.

Oh come on, give me a break dude! You don't name the GDI the GDI if they have an Offensive say. Might as well call it: The Global Military Initiative. As for the rest of your post, I do all the time, staying up all nite long trying to figure that fluff out *sigh* (not really, but you know).

Marshal, I disagree wholeheartedly with you.

GDI is useless, period. So what, it protects against certain attacks and land differential (correct me if I'm wrong). But, it just isn't useful aside from that. Why does the GDI not be used for the following:

For all intent and purposes, I will use the 1A Server as an example with around 600 players.

- GDI members cannot be attacked if the attacker is more than 30 ranks below
- GDI members may be attacked if the attacker is more than 30 ranks above (with a penalty discussed in my last point)
- GDI members cannot be attacked if the land differential is 50%
- GDI members can attack if the land differential is 50%

- Any alliance LEADER should be able to deactivate GDI for an enemy. Imagine X Alliance wants to dec war on Clan Y. Thus, X Alliance has 6 hours, after removing the GDI status from ALL members of their enemy, to dish out at least 25 attacks on said enemy. Upon failure to do so, X Alliance will be heavily penalized. Imagine automatic reps + 10% more of those to Clan Y.

- I have 10k land with $3 an acre spent on the GDI - I play 30 turns, I lose out 900k. How about $1 per acre? You lose out only 300k.

- GDI should NOT force you to not do a certain action. I cannot remember if this goes for certain servers or all of them, but I know that the GDI can make you stand down. This makes zero sense, as the GDI is a protective force, NOT an offensive military force (Global DEFENSE Initiative). So, why does the GDI make you stand down when you want to do certain things? If we take the second and third points I made, we could very well make those two points and this one valid. For example, IF there is a GDI warning telling you that the defender (who is in the GDI) is 32 ranks below you, then there would be a 15% overall increase of the defender's preparation. You know when you do a PS? It's plus 50%! So, imagine if you could have a similar defensive strategy, where you have 15% bonus for the defender. Now, if the defender has 51% less land, then the 15% defender's preparation would also exist.

But the GDI sucks. Joining the GDI is a waste of time, resources and more resources. But seriously though, I agree that something has to be done when it comes to making the GDI useful. Could be step in making it so. But, it just isn't a big enough step.

Also, what about being able to dec war on a single country? It's not in the Express Server, but I personally would like to have that. Any thoughts on these?

I'm not one for major changes. But, I do agree with enshula, there never should have been allies to start off with. His assessment is the only assessment worth listening to.

I remember a guy msging asking if we wanted to be allies, next thing I know when I try adding him, he was already allied twice. So, the sense of urgency in finding allies, rapidly that is, was more of annoyance and bother.

Sometimes, I like just bashing someone while attacking him quickly. Makes things more exciting, so having to spy him AND the allies list he has, you inevitably lose between 1-5 turns (depending how many turns you wanna waste) which is fine, BUT while ALSO either blindly attacking your enemy (very risky) OR spying their allies AND potentially wasting from 2-10 turns is just not worth it. Some players will spy me like 6 times (WTF?). The reality is that some players' spal is massive, and I mean massive. Those are hard to crack: do they have great defence and no offence? Or do they just have a fluffty all around attack and defence, but amazing spal? I do run either of those types of strats at times, because of a busy week schedule or what not, so I understand the relevance of running those at times.

Since this is the express server, this could happen because of the fact that many people can easily run commie indus strats. Sometimes, you wanna attack the person quickly for fear he will be online and unleash his 125 turns he got. May or may not happen. I personally don't do this, but I've seen people do that.

I was checking out the scores page and thought about something that annoyed the crap out of me. Our clan's allies never have a specific colour assigned to them (read the two last paragraphs for more details).

Here are the current colours:
Green = player under protection or on vacation.
Red = destroyed country.
Purple = player deleted for rules violations.
Orange - ghost countries (or so I read on this forum)
Yellow = ingame allies.
Aqua = you.

So, if we go with the assumption that we would need a new colour, then why not change red to this red hex colour #FF0000. The reality is that the current colour is not even red, it's a light pinkish red with the hex #FFAAAA. On the other hand, #FF0000 is a real bright red.

And then #FF9CE6 could be assigned to a clan's allies (NOT a fan of pink, but seems like the only colour not taken).

OR

You see the tag on the right hand side? We could have those tags coloured instead. I realize that EE staff would have to work with the clan forums' creators to make it happen.

Green (#00ff48) = Full Def Pacts and uNAP's
Blue (#00d2ff) = Limited defense Pact and NAP

Orange (#ff8400) = Offense Pacts and possible hostiles
Red (#ff0000) = WAR!

White (#ffeecc) = Normal tags we have no relations to in any way

Instead of wasting our time within our clan forum to determine who we can attack and not attack, this would make things SO much simpler and smoother.

Basically, the premise of my argument is that clan forums leaders should be capable of syncing internal: pacting, non-pacting and war decs with ingame visual queues in the scores page for example. Basically, you know how every clan has an Alert Status? Green, Orange and Red. Therefore, this is solely internal, correct? But, if the EE staff could work with the clan forums' admins (the hosts), there could be an extra space where you would have the clan categorize Pacts and an OP and non-pacts (either OP, possible hostiles and WAR!). Imagine, my clan says that Clan Z should have an uNAP with our clan, so our FA places that clan under the uNAP category which automatically falls under the colour "green". Whenever you categorize a clan after successful FAing, they would automatically obtain a certain colour which would automatically sync with the ingame status of that clan.

This would make attacking people way easier. Provided of course that the syncing is instantaneous or almost. The only clans that would NOT need categorization would be normal tags that you have no intention of pacting or anything in the genre.

Of course, but someone using a spambot would use it to register as well. I can't remember, but I assume this forum has an anti-spambot question or something in the genre. Thus, making a spambot useless.

Obviously -_-

How can spambots even do this??? Considering you need an account. In theory, it would have to be an earther, or else they would be denied, no? As a web developer, it wouldn't make sense to me that a spambot would be allowed. Unless you don't need to sign in (which I assume you have to sign in).

I do know that on my wordpress website that I made for myself, I get some people "leaving" comments (which do not appear, as I disabled the comment sections). And then asks me for my approval via email. But then again, in this case we're merely speaking about hacking an actual CSS file, as opposed to a JS based system (or a more secure PHP system). So, how could someone do this on this forum?
