So we're working on the ingame tutorial system and we want your help!

There are so many things to consider when making a good country, way more than we could think of by ourselves, so we want to open it up to the community to help us out thinking about some of this.
We're looking to figure out what are things that a new player should be told about how to properly run their country and what is the criteria for this?

For example -> if a player has a lot of unbuilt land, we want to alert the player that they need to build their land. If the player is playing as a monarchy, we want to alert the player that there are other government options.

So think back to when you were new to the game or think about what you feel would be beneficial to help new players get into the game and we'll see if we can get a pretty complete list of things that would good for the user to be given advice about!

Here are some categories and a few ideas to get started:
(I'll update the list as we go)

When taking a turn:
-Running out of food/cash
-Getting close to running out of food/cash
-Land being unbuilt
-Tax rate

Manage:
-Government advice
-Tax advice

Purchases:
-Let the player know if they are vulnerable

Build:
-Unused land
-Letting people know "rainbow strats" don't work well
-How many CS's a player has

Market:
??

Research:
-Which tech to research (maybe based on market prices?)
-Lab ratio

Military/War:
-Alert about attack types
-Let you know reasons why you may have bounced attacks (if you bounced)

Relations:
??

Spy:
??

Scores:
??

Clans:
??

We're also going to have some congratulatory messages as well, so if you have thoughts on those, that'll be good as well. :) once we get a list of things we want to advise about setup, we can work out the logic for it

Hey all

We've all been crazy swamped, so I thought that there may be some folks in the community that may want to help out with building a little bit of content for a Game Info page. This page will discuss the game at a pretty high level, basically with the hope of making people who are somewhat interested in the game decide to sign up for an account and start playing.

Here are some of the categories we wanted to have on the page:
-What is Earth Empires
-Military Strategy
-Your Economy
-Relations
-Type of games
-Clans and Alliances

This shouldn't just be the same content as the wiki, but we will have the opportunity to link to it from this page as well.

If anyone feels like writing up a little section about each of those areas (or others that you feel like writing) go nuts and we'll probably include some of them in the page we end up putting together :)

while we don't consider it bug exploiting to the extent that something like a market bug could be exploited, we did change the way the mechanics work based partially on what was going on in FFA.

So you guys can take that however you want.... they won't be any deletions for land trading, as it's fine to hit your own countries and there's no rule against hitting eachother over and over again

it should already be way less beneficial to land trade with the changes that have been made.

As a preliminary step to getting the Facebook stuff setup, I've put some work into the Facebook group -- Thanks to Andrew for getting it off the ground :)

I've noticed a sharp dropoff in the number of pro-conservative posts over the last couple of months...

Did the game community become more liberal?

Did all the conservatives leave to spam the CNN news stories with comments "This is why Obama IS the Joker!" even when the story is on Lebron James?

I was going to make a post directed at all the conservatives about how the republicans have been complaining about the deficit every since Obama took office, but backed the deficit continually for the 8 years Bush took it from a surplus to a an economic mess.

If any of you are left, feel free to discuss any of those points! :p

as for Facebook -> yes, it is close. I have my account linked to Facebook and I don't need to login manually anymore! :p

With regard to the bonuses -> we're not looking to create an experience where you either NEED to have people "water your jets" or something to perform well, and we're also not looking to give people who are very socially active have a major advantage over others. What we're aiming for is a system where it rewards you for getting people to play, allows you to get something for doing it but maintains fair and balanced play for everyone.

There will be bonuses for things like linking your FB account to EE and for letting us have access to your news feed and such. We're going to make it very tailorable, so if you want to receive alerts on your wall, you can and if you don't, it will be VERY limited. Things like "Dave's country ''New England Pangtriots' was just killed in battle in Earth Empires! Join up and fight alongside Dave!" may be something you would see, for instance.

anyways, that's enough random thoughts for now... but yes, nice look :)

We're happy to announce that after many months of hard work we're ready to unveil the new public look and ingame template for Earth Empires! The new look is a lot "shinier" than the old look and positions us well to attract a new generation earthers.

This is a really big update, changing the look and feel of the public, portal and ingame pages so please let us know if anything is amiss! We've moved up the launch of this new design for a few technical reasons (mainly for our IE users), so it's not entirely as polished as I'd have liked to get it.

Facebook functionality is integrated in this update as well, but we're not going to turn it on until we fix all the display bugs and polish the site to make it worth advertising for :) We'll also be integrated a new bonus system in, which will be linked into Facebook to give bonuses for things such as when players recruit their friends to play or are given a bonus for logging in every 24 hrs. Stay tuned or both of these to be rolled out shortly!

This has been a major update and a major team effort, so thanks to everyone who helped in the design, development and QA phases! And special thanks to Tavi for working up all these awesome graphics -- they're awesome!

the stuff PDM did last set -- which was all unprovoked -- falls in that category of "game experience ruining" as far as I can tell

pushing back because you're grabbed is one thing, but being on DNH all set while you fight a war and then randomly detagging to suicide someone who had you on DNH is very unclassy. The first one I'd give you a pass on, the next 6.... not so much.
