D is a very necessary thing and its best to lose some expense to having a sense of security. Sometimes more is much better then less just because of that "what if" factor. And to lose land to an asshole who has a worse country now would be extremely unpleasant and irritating. All the sets I've played I've always seen assholes top feeding ppl this time around.

Maybe based on guys like Reroll and Vivanick being willing to grab someone regardless of their defense. Even with Vivanick deleted, maybe Reroll will decide to do a 40m jet PS on someone who is stocking. Or there could be someone else out there willing to do a 40m+ jet PS on a stocker.

Yes 2 to 1 for little Azn against winter. I can't foresee winter going to war this close to the end. But it defiantly looks like a deliberate poke again at winter. Winter was low net and risky play to stay so land fat so small this close to the end.

I thought LATC was little Azn? I wouldnt have expceted that sort of a hit this close if it is him. I know who winter is and very unfortunate to receive that hit. Same with Horny sheep earlier today.

Why is that a fluff move? I'm trying to make top 10 too, he happened to be the fattest guy (hence biggest threat to jump in NW) under me w/ the easiest break. And he was also a repub casher so he had the bldgs I need. Why is it a fluff move to try to maximize my final rank? Just because he is considered a top country?

And as I told him, I didn't even realize I had hit him earlier in the set, this hit had nothing to do w/ that.

Because, LATC, with 3 days left in the reset, and needing to use over 400-500m dollars (in terms of the cost of jets lost during the PS and the oil cost) to PS, the land gained isn't going to even make back even 1/2 of that 500m dollars spent.

The 500m doesn't even include construction costs (which would be another 1b-1.2b if you build), and another 50+ turns to build them during which you could CASH instead for an additional maybe 400m dollars (at maybe +8m per turn). If you choose to leave the 5k empty acres empty, the ~2k buildings gained isn't even going to make back 200m over the last 3 days (say 170 turns) of the reset.

Suppose you did build all the land (and have 2 days left in the reset after that), the 8k additional acres would make approximately 650m dollars over 120 remaining turns, with some PCI Booms. No where near the 1.2b cost needed to build them.

Plus, when you gained 8k land, your tech levels probably fell by 2% (say from 177 to 175%), that is a 2.3% loss of income (equivalent to roughly 180m dollars loss for you over 200 turns) unless you spend another 150m dollars to buy more tech.

In other words, it is a networth loss for you to initiate the grab, and your grab wasn't a move that maximizes your final rank. That is why it is a fluff move; landgrabs ceased being a "networth maximizing move" about 5-6 days ago (and that's only if you grab countries of the same strategy, it would be about 7-8 days ago if it's different strategy).

Oh, and LATC, I just want to add, the biggest factor is that Winter is Coming has the capability to retal, so even if it was worth it to grab, the retal would make it not worth it at all by 10 times over.

Land-trading isn't worth it on Primary ever, it only works on clan servers (FFA, Team, Alliance) because you can afford to stay low in defense (meaning less than 1m turrets while on 50k land).

Further proof that LATC isn't top 10 material yet. Even if he was never retalled or warred all set, he wouldn't have made top 10, to think he thought he ran a top country.

Oh I thought the hit was payback in return for his 7-day old retal earlier in the set. That would've made more sense than a netting attempt.

I did the same sort of thing on Xin about 4 sets ago. Mistakes happen best to learn from them and not repeat them if you wanna be a top 15 player regularly. I think the only difference between our hits is mine was 7 or 8 days left. Still a retarted exchange on my part. Take the criticism and move on is all you can do. But if I were winter I would flatten your country and throw away my set just to really really make the point known.
