"Debates" are a sham, the only goal of the candiates is trying to score a few good soundbites and zingers.
Agreed, there should be pubically financed races for House/Senate/President. This takes outside influence money out of the race, but also frees up time that many incumbents use for "fundraising". The past two presidents have taken dozens if not hundreds of taxpayer financed trips for party fundraisers. These are expenseive when you factor in Marine One costs, Air Force One costs, advance secruity costs, day of the event costs, etc.
What is wrong with a photo ID? You need a photo ID to just about anything else in this society, including gaining employment, opening a bank account, and GETTING A SOCIAL SECRUITY CARD/BENEFITS. I concede the above doesn't include 100% of eligible voters, to which I say, that if a state choses to have a mandatory photo ID law, there has to a be a free way to obtain a ID that is valid for voting.
