gas prices depend on a few more variables than just the price of crude homeslice.

regardless, prices always fall a bit after the summer demand. it has been dropping where i live for the last week or two.

How much in your area, fordy?

It's $3.50+ here in Eugene Or.

And I know there's many contributing factors to gas pricing, however, the libtards don't see past the price when republicans run the show, I'm pointing out their hypocrisy...

different states have different taxes, different levels of supply, different levels of demand. places closer to the refineries and major pipelines will be cheaper clearly. additionally, look at virginia, NC, and SC. NC has a fluffing high ass tax on gas, but they have some nice ass roads and fluff. SC has that low tax, cheap ass gas, but fluffTY ass roads.

sigh, i'll bite

A month after Hurricane Katrina the price of a barrel of oil was ~65$... but prices at the pumps were just under $3.00. in many cities it was way way higher.. where was the outrage then against the republicans and dubya?!?!?!

and like fordy said:

price at the pump isn't directly related to the cost of crude, many more factors that come into play. the political affiliation of whichever liar is in office has a very very very miniscule impact on the price at the pump.

like i said, 0/10 on the troll post

compared to SC and VA? NC roads are piratically the autobahn, granted it has been a few years since i have travled either of those states, but i doubt that has changed.

thx to taxes (~140% of price and increasing every year).

of course if car is capable to run on etanol-gasoline mixture (70-85% of etanol and rest gasoline) then price is ~50 cents less but needs to refuel more often so money spent is ~same as in non e-g car's refueling.

Conservatives want higher prices for higher profits. Liberal want higher prices for reduced driving habits and less pollution. In short, everyone in power benefits from higher prices.

Average gasoline tax in Canada is 27.5 cents per litre. Not 40% but nothing to sneeze at either.

Where is "here" exactly?

The number I quoted is the "average" in Canada, some places pay more and some places pay less. In BC they pay well over 30 cents per litre for example (due to the carbon tax).

Looking at fuel tax rates in Europe it seems the EU average is similar to here (just under EU 0.3 per litre).

There is also a very strong collusive effect between the gas companies as well as the oil cartel (OPEC).
Also supply (unrelated to supply of oil) and demand surges have a large impact as well.

While the price of oil is not the only determiner of the price of gas at the pump you cannot convince me that it has *almost nothing* to do with it either.

In Canada most of the gas taxes are a fixed amount so as the price of gas rises, the % will drop:P.. really should have been a % a la sales tax but meh.

The 40% probably comes from when gas was 0.80 cents/litre.
You better believe that the price is only going to get higher as time goes on. Although at least vehicles are getting more fuel efficient.

The US administration can trigger events which will influence the price of gasoline btw, but not all changes in the price of gasoline have anything to do with the administration.

I'm sure if they decided to carpet bomb saudi arabia that would have an impact.

I saw it for $2.89 in Oklahoma a few days ago. Still not a good reason to move to OK. Wondering when the oil companies will try to capitalize on ISIS disrupting oil flow in the Mid East....or maybe they are making too much oil? Perhaps that is why it's so cheap?

There is only so much screaming one can do when nothing is done about it before people just come to terms with reality. If it bounces back out of control too high, then you will be damn sure no matter who is in charge, they will hear it. Trust me, this "libtard" is very unhappy at how high the gas prices, but i've just given up on the hope that it will ever return to sub $2/gallon levels. I'm just ecstatic that it has finally dropped below $3/gallon here in St. Louis.

Fair enough. Petrol in the UK is priced per litre £1.29 at the moment and it's been as high as 1.40 before. It hasn't been as low as 1.20 for years
