Hi All,

As promised, I'm implementing a hotfix for the fast-DR, based on observing actual game play.

On Monday 00:00 GMT (1377475200 unix time) the fast-DR decay rate will change from 0.7% per hit to:

0.4% for GS
0.5% for AB &etc
0.6% for BR

The way they are applied is that hits are counted, and the base is used for the current hit; ie it doesn't matter if previous hits were BR or GS, only how many there were, and what you are attacking with now.


Whether or not this will render the fast-DR ineffective or not remains to be seen.

Does "0.05% for AB &etc" cover AB only or something else too?

Did you really mean 0.05%~0.07%? Aren't the rates 0.5%~0.7%?

err yes, good catch, that's correct :) updated.

(i'm actually using 0.996, 0.995, 0.994 incidentally; and failing at percent math this morning; back to khan academy for me i guess heh)

And by AB &etc i mean, *technically* this counts for SS/PS as well, as it goes through the same code, it's just that most people don't do fast SS/PS KR's; default is 0.995 == 0.5%

So now you are encouraging GS kills nice :( you should get BR's also to 5%, that will make the KR's a bit faster then they are

yea, in practise it seems that GS was taking longer because of the minimum return being lower; though in alphaffa for some reason they always came out close to the same, though i think that's a result of the nw/nw being too similar most of the time we were testing, rather than a broad spectrum of nw/nw's during a real KR

returns wise it's always better to BR when your personal GS returns drop under 10 civs.

resource wise on the other hand...

and obviously if a player gets on to stonewall, he/she is a parking lot and ruined, forced to rebuild, remake CS's etc.. Still a no brainer UNLESS... you have a ton of turns, break that badass fast and kill it. To Jet or not to Jet, that is the question.

reporting back on the Hotfix - hop qzjul sees this and takes advice so we have more conclusive data

Also take into consideration that it still takes over 400 GS's to kill a country with res tech and around 95k population and around 1min 20sec meaning this will advantage sooner FS's in alliance server - the smaller the countries the less hits to kill- wars will start breaking out in the 1st 2 weeks of the set.

you could try lowering the GS to 3% and the BR to 5% and see how that works out - at least a lot of us are warring this set and we can test it

PS: If it doesn't work ok you can raise them back up :)

well wouldn't you want wars to start a bit later so they last more and are harder?

It's true that smaller countries take less hits to kill but the difference seems a bit high between killing a tyr/farmer with 80k population -that would mean 8-9kA lets say and a rep or theo which at the same ammount of land would have 150-200K populationa and since we are at it and killing each other we might as well try it and see how it works out right?

i mean a difference in hits... it takes around 300 gs to kill a tyr and around 400 gs to kill a rep due to the population factor
