Dumsnill did let CROATIA get away with one but it's clear he will retal successfully this time. Maybe he let CROATIA go because that country was land thin and a waste of time to hit back.

Yeah I didn't realize he could get that many jets that fast.. he was in like the mid 20's in rank at the time I grabbed him. Didn't look at his turns though =/

1.35 is your 35% communist bonus

You should assume an Indy is around 150% industrial tech at least by this point. And probably 140% or so weapons tech.

Well I boosted my tech levels to 175%+/87% the day before I grabbed to make sure I was ready to buy up D right after.. so we'll see. Also tried to sell some $160 turrets to exchange for $110 turrets, but they didn't sell (prices peaked at $150 that day).

By trying to outrun the hit, you're just gonna increase military expenses and misallocate resources but not avoid the retal. You'll also lower your own pool of grab targets and increase the networth gap between you and them and lower your gains. You may make it harder for him to networth match and get as big a gain on his retal though.

He can make almost 10m jets a day though. With the PS bonus you'd have to buy 15m turrets a day to keep running, so it's gonna happen either way.

edit: of course he has to sell units to keep running those turns, but still, he'll make the hit.

Well he just got hit by a player half his nw. That said, he was at <9m net when he got first hit and very quickly jumped by 7m to make the retal, so the jump was probably all jets.

This comes pretty damn close to giving out spyops. You make a bad hit, you suck it up. No need to resort to this.

I always feel, at this stage it is smarter to basically only grab CIs at lands that can't retal you. You grab a casher, farmer, techer that could have been stocking and you pay the price.

I'm always up for a fight. Plus I'm not gonna let someone sell off all his turrets and produce just jets for 3 days straight to retal me. I was tempted to do it before he retalled since he had even less turrets then, but I wanted to see if he'd give up trying.

Almost anyone can retal anyone else within 3 days if you sell off all your turrets and only get jets. But if you're going to sit on all that land w/ so little D just for the retal what do you expect? Why am I obligated to just let him retal while leaving so little D at home and then buy up his D again when he's done? He should have had more turrets to begin anyway.

And for the record I can't handle retals (or LG's) from anyone. But not making the grabs isn't my solution.

Haven't you noticed most reset talk threads talk about the potential top 10 countries, and as such, any maneuver that risks a t10 spot gets attention, such as the retal on Elegantly Tasteful (#111)?

Heh I've said it before, a top 10 finish is meh to me. I'd rather fight for my right to mid (I guess you all consider it top) feed someone than just let him sell off/build up jets for days to retal me Plus I've been netting for 3.5 months straight, I need some action! I don't know how you guys do it for yrs upon end and not get bored.

And no blid I wasn't surprised he would try to retal. I thought I could outrun it for long enough he'd give up, but I was surprised he sold off that many turrets.. and more surprised that no one topfed him for those 4 days.

Big countries get away with bottomfeeding only because the countries being bottomfed on are so much weaker, and not because they don't want to retal.
