oh, i was using the beta version of Windows 8. maybe that's why i didn't like it. it didn't come with any Window games.

current chromebooks have very limited battery-life and progs are all/mostly in web.

I've read you can set it up to go directly to the desktop.

I just switch over to it straight away and have all my most used programs pined to my taskbar.

I would move over to Linux full time if it didn't burn my laptops internals to a crisp.

I feel your pain. We just upgraded to Win7/Office 2010 at work, and I can't find anything. Not only that, but I can't seem to type in IE9 either. For instance, in order to create this post, I've actually done more backspacing and re-typing than actual TYPING, because IE9 is lagging badly and misses every other character I type.

My kingdom to the person who tells me how to fix that (and who can recommend an ad blocker for IE9 that I can install without local admin rights - lol)...

I believe that Internet Explorer has made zero advancements except in how the fluffing browser looks, which if you're into how pretty something looks before you decide to use it, then great.

One of the major reasons I refuse to use it is that it has zero protection against malware, and a *literal* list of vulnerabilities that haven't been fixed since forever. In some aspects Microsoft's browser is a lot like their older operating systems, rather than fixing the problems, they simply built around them.

Patience, download the portable version of firefox (or any browser for that matter), extract it into a folder, and bam. you dont have to install it and you probably can install addons too since everything works from within that folder.
