Ok this is total BS!

1. It's a solo server however, there is in game relations. If you want to have a partner help you out, why not? There is no clan pacting feature in alliance, yet its done. If having a friend gs you is cheating, then any alliance in alliance server with a pact beyond the actual game is also cheating. Also anyone with any ingame relations is also cheating on the express server.

2. "GSing only helps the other person" Well, I could see how it could help a grabber by using dr, however! A gs also destroys food, what is the primary function of a farmer? To farm! If someone grabs me, or hell if thye look at me funny I want to ruin them! What better way then to kill their stock? By destroying via GS!

3. "GSing only helps the other person" You may have noticed this is the same as #2, however my points are reasons why people who are deleted for gsing is Bullfluff. A casher cashes cash, how does he do this? Population! How do you put a casher out of service? By destroying his population. What better way to put him out service then to kill his income, sure BR will due the same, maybe even more effectively, However a gs will kill his pop and take all his food, if he has no income, and no food you've screwed him for a bit as he'll have to sell down (assuming he has no cash on hand) just to start regaining population.

4. GSing is in the war menu. Period.

5. Some of us have class. Instead of jumping all over someone for hitting me, I may send a message where we develop a friendly banter. I use the same country theme set after set, so the next set my newly made friend says," Hey, I'm not gonna hit this guy this set, we are friends!" It's called politics, it might be a solo server but there is no rule against it, and if there is 99% of this server needs to be deleted for rules violations. If you show any bias, actively seeking a country to attack, or to avoid hitting(goes both ways) You just broke the "rules" and need to be deleted.


So in summation, GSing is not cheating, I don't care how its used. Having friends is not cheating. I haven't seen official rules saying 2 express players can't be friends, and if there is a rule then alliance better change to have an official rule that says "Alliances can't be friends, and can't interact with each other"

your anecdote in the first point comparing GS'ing in a solo server to clans pacting in alliance is ludicrous (and to some extent undermines the rest of your post)

if you ask someone to GS you so your hits cannot be retalled normally, you are protected from fair retaliation which is a key part of the game (tit for tat, mutual growth etc).

by intentionally spoiling this game mechanic to provide an advantage to a player is cheating.

pacts are passive (except res) and (this is the key bit) are available to everyone. GS'ing just lets you rape people, so you gain an advantage AND their set is spoiled. to think otherwise isn't rational for someone who genuinely desires a good competition.

It's basically the same sound I hear when someone else either fails to read the stickied posts at the top of the Express forum, or reads the sticked posts at the top of the Express forum, breaks the rules laid down in the sticked posts anyways, then comes to Express Talk, whining about why what he or she did shouldn't be considered cheating/wrong/unethical, why "because it's not a written rule, it's not a rule at all", and how life in general sucks too.

You can't GS your friends into DR anymore. Just because the option is there, doesn't mean you should use it.

Basically anyone gaining benefit from another is cheating. You make one rule for DR, but then allow the rest.

Mutual growth? I know damn well players from alliance pact there alliance mates in this game. Sounds fair for new players who have no idea what a "guild/clan" is.

Its a BS rule.


BTW to clarify, Im against friends putting others into dr, I still dont think it should be against the rules though.

not at all, there are provided interactions within the game mechanic (pacts) which are fine to use with friends. I often run without prearranged allies and it can be fun. it provides a very small and permitted advantage but is in no way required to succeed.

the current GS stuff is getting silly and is not an "ally" option that is intentionally within the game. it's an abuse of a mechanic intended to protect new players (DR)

Again going back to alliance, lets look at low defense land trading, that is not only ok but accepted.

Not an intended game mechanic, yet its used.

Using the same country name set after set, not an intended game mechanic, but if you played for a while you recognize who to hit and who not to hit.

Should I keep going? I have quite a few more that show advantages gained through unintended game mechanics.

Gsing a friend into dr is a moral issue imo. It shouldn't be a rule.

its a rule because its a bug within the game that is in the process of getting fixed . because Express last a week not 2 months like most of the other servers, a lot of rounds can pass before it will be fixed. hence the rule to make sure people aren't abusing it until its fixed.
