over in csfbl we were talking about when we started earth and i date back to approx aug 97. once i took over ucn i started taking various notes and here is a note on my fellow alliance leaders from my first reset running ucn (notice Omega and MD weren't even born yet they started end of my first reset/beginning of second)


I was 29 back then and today is my 43rd birthday. That's a lot of years...

I was 12 at that time and I kept asking Bu what was in the 'beef' on the Pizza Hut pizzas. Soy, mostly.

i believe my thinking at the time of collecting this was to ensure that i wasn't the only adult doing this. i occassionally questioned the sanity of a grown up with a job spending 2-5 hours a day on a text based game.

evidence mounted that it was indeed mass insanity

that should answer any question of sanity :)

There were more of us at age 29-30 wasting too much time in the day on a text game then. =(

I had my whole office playing 1B at one point. My manager was craziest. He'd AB us and laugh so loud across the office at us while we were working.

I was all of 7 years old at the time of that post. That's downright scary.

@fin yeah. Most of the people I chatted with when I started playing in 1997/98 where actually my age or a bit older (many of whom were in FBI and Omega and SoF when it formed). I was pretty amazed to find an online game where I was around the average player age...

I started playing around then too. I was in grade 5, so it would've been 97. Beefhawk and Grelk recruited me to Tiger (don't think it was "the" Tiger though). They had a 1b division. Eventually I got called up to the 1a division. Tiger merged into some alliance... I forget what it was, but I believe Empress Athena or something similar was the head of it. I quit the game and returned in around 02. By that time the alliance had merged into Omega and that's where I found Beefhawk and Grelk so I just picked Omega. Even 02 is so long ago... it seems like not so far back, but that's a decade. Shiiiit.

My first reset actually was in UCN... 1998 Tobias recruted me.
Then one set with an own allaince with a few freinds. Then Elitez for oh so many years (until the merger with TIE) and now TIE...

My first alliance was UCN sometime in 97, I was 14. We started in 1b with a textpad list of countries that were "friends" and then eventually moved to 1a.

I think I started around '97 when I was 12-13. I remember I'd get people to go to the library at lunch to play =P

Also remember talking to old Avengers on the phone back then. Was kindda weird talking to 45 year old people when I was in middle school.

Thats funny; same here. Back then the middle school library was the only computer with an internet connection in the school!

I was 7 and barely knew much about computers at that time. Seriously, all I knew was that I used an Apple Macintosh at school. I sure as hell wasn't showing any sort of symptoms in relation to Aspergers nor was I acting like it(today, most psychiatrists or whatever they are called would diagnose me with Aspergers if I were to let them), I was the popular kid in elementary school, I ruled the playground, I was best at math and building fluff with legos, I was best at playing Monopoly and SimTower! YEAH!

I've also only played this game for the last 4 years or so. Not the last 15 like some of you.

Little fun fact for you. Fing (G-Money is what he was called back in the hood) went to see my band play and we drank beers. In fact, we were so bad....he needed to drink to enjoy it. In fact, I am drinking right now remembering it.

When I still had my old 386, I had entire alliance lists saved on it....in word perfect. I remember playing games through DOS....CIV being one of them.
