was truly a 'bug' and 'mistake'

roll the server back to its status before the 'bug' went in and extend the set by a day

you'll make everyone here a lot happier if you do that

yup. this "mistake" takes apparently hours to fix... haha. maybe we need better developers.

This was definitely not intended to go live in FFA; the cause may possibly have been related to caching...

wow, so it is "only" about me then slagpit?

if there is a 'bug' in the server, then things that happen during the bug should be rolled back no?

i seem to remember other instances of that happening in the past

i know if there was a bug and someone used it to make a 4 trillion NW country, that change would be rolled back.... i've the mods do that before. why would this case be any different?

It's only done if there's a compelling reason to do so. Considering there's less than a week to go, I doubt you'll be able to find one.

I can't think of one. During the "tech bug" that happened in a early set of FFA, Muhel simply deleted all the countries that did the tech bug.

Later with all the bots running rampant nothing was ever done.

A full rollback is unprecedented on this server.

I can roll the server back to July of last year; but the HD that just died recently was the one with the latest backups; I don't have a RAID array for backups atm heh... (just for live)

joeskin: we have testing servers; it was apparently tested in alphaffa; again, caching is the most likely culprit for this.

We actually did test it on an alpha server and everything was doing what was intended there. Sometimes unexpected things happen afterwards.

I can't understand Joeskin..but whatever. Anyhow once again half of you act like you are so perfect and don't make mistakes. The developers are just as much human and make errors too.
Relax it is not the end of the world and the devs don't even get paid..matter a fact qz hosts this game with his own money so you all can play.
llaar you do need to own up to this. I even asked you politely to stop the suicide attacks last night.

whether to rollback or not to rollback?

should rollback:
a bug which lets you do something you shouldnt normally be able to do that people can take advantage of

a bug which causes unrecoverable damage to other players

example, when it was possible to take infinite turns and kill countries, i think the only thing you had to do was not fail attacks, wasnt even rolled back (still looking back on mehul fondly?), at worst everyone except one person dies, i remember hundreds killed

should not rollback:
a bug which limits you from doing something or makes it inconvenient

a bug which supposedly 'causes' the playerbase to do something

example, it becomes harder and takes longer to kill, or people can do 30% less kills for a little bit and ignore it, some people may be able to stonewall, nobody forced anyone to still run kills or to run slow kills or for the waller to get on, at worst a couple of countries dont get killed per affected player per day

but it seems fairly moot anyway as theres a bug in the backup

I really hope you're not saying that the two issues are equal.

The admins make a mistake and it minorly inconveniences people.

llaar intentionally tries to ruin other people's finishes in a childish hissy-fit over a rule change he didn't like (and let's be honest, has anyone found ways to utilize the rules in their favor more than llaar?) and then as soon as he finds out the change wasn't intentional, he blames the admins for his actions.

Some of you people are the same people that crucify other players on this server for suiciding (and in this case, I don't necessarily mean you, Kyle). If there's a double-standard here, it's not the admins telling llaar to own up to his actions, it's those of you who do everything you can to belittle and berate every other player known for suiciding on these forums, but once it's llaar who does it, it's not his fault, it's the admins that are to blame.
