Absolutely and totally like completely royally suck mega big time epic huge donkey duck balls down south in Africa on a bus in June with a slight breezy kickin up dust with a slight chance of rain.

I'm livid.

My service is experiencing more and more daily hiccups.

Please tell me i'm not the only one blessed this these fluffUPS???

anyone happy with comcast?

there were times in the past where i had to hook up my cell phone to troll the forums because Comcast was too slow, or somebody from Earth was DDoSing my router.

they've been doing me pretty decently for the last year. minus that junk where they tried to bump me up to $60 a month.

yea. well... i only have a 2 gig limit on my cell, and a 250 gig limit on comcast.... needless to say, i max both monthly... so. i try to make due...

used to be... had their 50Mbps DS setup before i started running fiber and my own servers. never had any problems with them.

I've had Comcast for 10 years now and my Internet has only been down or slow maybe 4 or 5 times after major storms or something.

A lot of the time, it's the Outside Plant that's the problem. Meaning the actual cable that distributes the service to each individual house.

Where I live, Comcast replaced virtually all the outside cable including the trunk cable about 15 years ago. Bad Cable = signal loss and troubles.

The main problem I've had with Comcast is their pricing. If you're not on an introductory rate, the prices keep going up and up, but if you complain they'll find another package to give you the intro rate on.

As far as their service, I've never really had an issue.

The intro rates aren't too bad. But we were up to something like $170/month for service that on the intro rate was originally costing us like $110-120.

I called and told them that I couldn't afford that anymore and that if they wanted to keep us as customers that I needed cheaper programming and they basically upgraded me to the next package up and gave me the intro rate on that, which put us back at around $125/mo., and now I have HBO for 6 mos. free and Starz permanently.

Again--as far as service, I have no advice for you, but when your intro package runs out, call and talk to them about it. They'll probably get you set up with a better deal than you'd get otherwise.

I have had comcast for years and years. Yeah the prices aren't great, but because I am sometimes to materialistic for my own good....I have to have the stupid extreme package. As for internet, the only problem I have ever had is my modem went out.

Since I moved to SC, I've had more problems with Comcast in the last 5 months than I had with Time Warner in 6 years. Comcast is horrible, but they have a monopoly where I live.

It's the Outside PLant. Charter (which is big in the South) is the same way. They buy up these "mom and pop" cable companies who have fluff for outside cable and make the mistake of promising better service during the changeover. It's one reason that Charter will eventually fail.

What these megaproviders should be telling new customers is that OVER TIME, they will provide better and more reliable service. Depending on a person's individual needs and preferences, DSL is a competitive option. Truth be told, I played Earth on Dialup and my High Speed Cable Internet doesn't make the game run a whole lot faster.

If the physical cable network sucks, you can go DSL or Dish, but both of them have THEIR problems as well.

I've never had horrible down time problems with Comcast, buuuuuuuutttt

I literally JUST (hung up as I started typing this) spent 45 minutes on the phone with Comcast. Of that 45 minutes, 40 minutes was spent on hold being told how important my call was to them (mind you, this is at 10:30 at night on a Saturday), and the other 5 was spent with a tech support clown who didn't know his elbow from his asshole when it came to set up without referring to his manual, and then informed me that I'm going to have to pay $50 to have a technician come to my new home to fix the installation that they fluffed up the first time around when they came out.

Unfortunately, you don't have to be any good at all when you're the only game in town other than some crappy alternative services that can't match your speed because the technology hasn't advanced far enough yet.

we switched from comcrap to ATT uverse over a year ago and havent looked back.

comcast internet used to have random outages several times a month. the stations and options blew also, much better setup on att especially with the dvr built in

oh and they were more expensive then the better ATT

250G a month roughly equals 8.33 G per day. an HD movie is roughly 5G. Comcast doesn't want me to watch 2 HD movies per day if they have a 250G cap. not that i watch in HD anyway. SD is cheaper on Zune, and around 1/3 of the size.

seems kinda screwy that they put a cap on data, but they'll let TV watchers on 24/7. should be a "We're Sorry, you have watched too much TV this month, please try again next month." message.

When the opportunity arises, seams i'll investigate att for home net, and sprint for cell service.

if you're going to mention DSL please specify the speeds. under Verizon i was getting 768kbps down, 128 kbps up. was pretty much standard for DSL at the time.

don't think it exists anymore, was over 4 years ago. plus i'd have to check my old phone bills, my memory might be mistaken. but it was the cheapest phone and the cheapest DSL. i canceled it because i moved to a place that doesn't support DSL.

hmmm, the phone package probably wasn't good for anything but receiving calls. but i didn't notice it because i was already using my cell phone for everything.

maxing a 250gig connection monthly is intense. I've been seriously considering reducing mine from unlimited to 250gigs because I pretty much never hit that. Even though I can get 3 megabytes/s download very easily there simply isn't enough stuff out there for me to dl that amount month after month after month:P

Maybe someone is watching a lot of hd streaming pron?:P

dragon, i'm going to guess that your experience with comcast is the exception to the rule. i had comcast in atlanta for several years, and had all sorts of problems.
i think part of it was due to their detection of bittorrent activity and throttling. i play wow. it updates with bittorrent. (i didnt bother with piratebay etc at home because i still had access to that when i was on campus, and less likely to get in trouble for it :D)
dont remember all the problems i had tbh, but comcast had a virtual monopoly on cable in atlanta in the mid-late 2000s, and they were fluff. upcharges on everything, tech support would take hours to reach, unscheduled downtime frequently. etc.
