both the vikings and the bills have made it to four super bowls, and lost all four of them.

and you're clearly not describing phillies fans, who pride themselves on the fact that their team has lost more games than any other professional team in american history. it's just nice to be around now, for one of only two multi-year runs of success they've ever had.

fordy has a point on Philly fans. This of course isn't a personal slight on you or any individual Philly fan, but between throwing snowballs at Santa (admittedly, this would be the Eagles, not Phillies), throwing batteries at JD Drew or the way Scott Rolen was treated after the team pretty much chased him out of there.

These types of things will always stick with Philadelphia fans.

Of course, it'd probably be better to get back to talking about the teams than the fans.

well, i was responding to ford's accusation that "I love fans of newly succesful teams, they seam to just throw the past away since their team is better in the past 5 years they are clearly the best there has ever been!" i don't think that's true at all about phillies fans -- they're a long-suffering group that's stuck by the most unsuccessful franchise in american sports history, are thoroughly enjoying (and astonished by) this rare run of success, and fully expect things to return to the dark days again at some point.

now, if the accusation is, instead, that philly fans are obnoxious, drunken, hostile, abusive, etc., well, yes, that's absolutely true.

but santa, j.d., and scotty all deserved it.

As I said earlier, I'd be happy to concede that the Braves are better than the Cardinals if they were ahead. They most certainly are, with not much time left.

The Cardinals were a team of a few excellent players (Pujols, Holliday, Rasmus, Wainwright, Carpenter, Garcia) and a LOT of sub-par players, virtually none of which had good years.

Assuming the Braves can hold onto the Wild Card over whichever team gets 2nd in the West, they'll probably be the team I root for.

I have to give it to the phillies, they have come alive as of late. And your big 3 rotation remings me of Maddox, smoltz, and glavine.
