Almost nobody buys futures for the purpose of receiving the product, that would be weird as hell. You're shocked the largest financial institutions have assets that they've accumulated over time that's closer to what we produce in a single year? Really, that's news?

Not sure what to say about speculation. With any commodity there's a chance of that happening. I wouldn't be surprised to hear a lot of people on this board were doing a little of it.

The magic will be better than the celtics who are another year older and for everyone but Rondo that's a bad bad thing.

They should be on par with the celtics assuming they don't just get complete crap for the bench (they have a bit of wiggle room for at least one decent guy and then hopefully they get just enough from reserves for the min). Oh and they could win without a bench, but not without a point or center of some talent.

That team doesn't appear to be better than 3rd in the league unless they just land amazing guys. Who's taking a pay cut when there won't be a season next year? I'm not signing a one year contract and then make nothing the next year.

Even if that was for charity it was amazingly silly and in poor taste. But again the cav's owner acted like a child.

Oh and fyi Durant is staying...THAT's the major news story.

I suppose Kentucky is the south. I'm rather proud I can't work on a car. Not that I would be against learning but meh why not pay someone else to do it? I couldn't recall madison as the 4th president and to be honest I'm not overly upset over that one. Now had I not know the first 3 maybe I would have been. I'll add in that our 5th president I couldn't even tell you anything about him and I took a few history classes over the years. That said there's a reason the south is....well the south.

Kentucky would definitely stay with the SEC. OSU, Texas, OU, UCLA, Michigan St, and well anyone in the SEC, big 10, and whatever becomes of the pac 10/Big 12 who ends on the money side would go with the pack. There would be no logical reason not to. Odds are this would turn into a more profitable move for the basketball schools.

You think if all the BCS schools broke away they wouldn't create their own basketball tourney? It would without a doubt be a bigger profit maker, and it would take away the NCAA's huge cash cow that is the tourney.

But yeah no doubt UNC's basketball program makes a lot more...and being in the ACC certainly doesn't help since they aren't getting the big football cut that say the SEC or big 10 gets.

I suppose I'd look into investment real estate. With cash at a premium it seems like a good time to do that. Sadly without any income I dunno how much leverage one could use, but 13 million should still return a decent amount of cash.

Interestingly with Boise moving I think we've got a new BCS conferences in the making if the BCS doesn't go away.

What argument? You just made an idiotic statement that made no sense what so ever. You can base an argument on someone not expressly stating something that's assumed by anyone with any amount of common sense. You also didn't manage to do something as amazingly simple as make a case for why nascar is a sport.

Foog, this isn't a formal debate. So no, it doesn't make sense or apply to this discussion. It makes you look silly that you're challenging someone by drawing an illogical conclusion. If this neutral 3rd party is mentally challenged you may win...to anyone else that argument is absurd.

The point of countering a person when you're in a format like this, is to actually make a reasonable argument for your opinion. This of course assumes the two are in conflict.

Fooglmog, that's an extremely sill argument. If I state something is lacking x and thus isn't y. It doesn't mean all things with x are y. Now is supposed to list all the requirements to be a sport when the others don't pertain to this topic?

A sport needs to be a competition where someone can win or lose based on their own actions, at least imo. I don't need to mention that as we can safely say that the race car TEAMS are competing against each other and the winners are decided based on what's done on the track/in prepping for it.

BTW if women can compete with men at the pro level...not a sport!

hoop - you're telling me steering a car w/ no power steering isn't a work out, or that staying focused at 100+ mph for the length of a race isn't mentally tiring? If you're trying to tell me you didn't feel the race after you drove a go-kart, either you only put in a lap or two, or I'm gonna have to call BS on you having driven go-karts in any sort of a race context.

Heart racing, adrenaline pumping, etc...sure. That doesn't mean I had been through a physical endeavor. I could jump out of a plane and I bet I'd be shaking when I got to the ground, but sure as heck isn't physical. My arm will be tired after bowling as I don't do it much, but sure as heck isn't physically demanding.

I bet if I drove a race car without power steering (which btw it's hardly difficult ot drive a car without) I'd be a bit sore in the morning. I've never done that and it would hit different muscles. I mean hell I you could jerk off till your wrists are sore, you gonna call that a sport? As for mentally challenging it clearly is. Any game can be that...so can work...school...a freaking cross word puzzle.

It's a sport I suppose in the classical "it's not a sport unless you can die doing it" but most people don't considering anything a "sport" unless it's a physical endeavor. Race car driving is a skill, not athletic. Thus not a sport. Since i wouldn't call dueling a sport, I'm inclined to leave all forms of racing cars as non sports.

It would have to be more fun live than on tv...minus being around rednecks...which actually would make it far worse for a real person. And really can you even get a decent beer at a nascar event? Gonna end up drinking a bunch of import fizz around 100 pound over weight people cooking in the sun, while watching cars go around a track.

I hate the media. Lebron isn't going anywhere. The celtics out played the cavs. The celtics out played cleveland at their own game. Lebron isn't the second coming and he's shown virtually no sign at any point that he even cares about being the best basketball player in the world. He's an other worldly talent, but I'm pretty sure he sleeps before big games. I'm pretty sure he'll have no issue sleeping this summer either. We now have a truly great eastern conference finals where I truly have no idea who's going to win.

Speaker that scenario would only be applicable on the 4th of July and school isn't open that day...so I'm not sure how you can possibly compare or pass judgment.

Speaker, lets say that this did turn into an ugly fight and someone got seriously hurt. What then? I mean if the kid ends up fine it's a valuable lesson, but what if he doesn't? Why risk it if you're the person responsible for protecting the kids?

God, I hate living in Arizona. Can't wait to get away from all this. "

It wasn't believed by the administration to be something that would incite violence. There is no double standard there. Think before you say stupid things, please.

Look a college does something like this, get upset. These are CHILDREN. They are not adults, they are not afforded the same rights as adults. Most of them more than likely have bed times too!

I was wrong. This suns team was just built to beat the spurs. Grant Hill can SHUT down Manu. We already knew Amare was a match up nightmare for the spurs. But who knew that sun's bench could be that good even on the road? That is a legitimately good defensive team and about the fastest I've seen (well more a function of their passing and shooting). I just can't see them doing this against the size of the lakers. Then again can the lakers go with 2 bigs vs this team? Can bynum even play as slow as he is?

Hustler, this is a high school. These aren't "laws" or anything like that. It's always where I've been at the discretion of the administration as to what is and isn't acceptable. The kids weren't in trouble...they were asked to turn the shirt inside out or go home and change. High schools are places of learning, not a place to express your free speech.

The school cannot have rules that cover every possible scenario. These are minors. They most likely can't walk outside after certain hours. They can be arrested for not being in school during the day. So really give me a break.

What they did is wrong. It wasn't wrong because they violated free speech. It's wrong because we shouldn't need to coddle our children. You'd have done the same thing if you felt you could lose your job over a violent fight breaking out.

What right does a high school student have in regard to what they wear to school? Really, unless you KNOW there are court cases backing this up do tell, other wise I question that students have ANY rights on what the wear. All schools I've ever been to had it built into a dress code that they could ban anything if they deemed it necessary. Some had strict dress codes and others there might as well have not been a code.

To be honest earth watcher I think putting the flag on anything but a flag is a bit weird at best and rather offensive at worst. I mean really on a t-shirt? The flag deserves better than to be plastered across some redneck high schooler's chest. Though I'm completely fine with it being burned in protest.

This school thing isn't about the flag so I'm not sure why we're still talking about it. It's about the irrational fear of safety in the American society. It's about how we shelter our children and prevent them from learning from their mistakes. The flag was simply a catalyst to get this into the media, but it's FAR from the real issue here.

It's american where you're entitled to your own opinion, even if it makes me sick to my stomach and I find it beyond reprehensible. As long as you're not committing a crime, you have the RIGHT to think and say what ever you like and you should expect EVERYONE no matter what they feel to stand up for your right to express that opinion. If you disagree that's your right, but it makes you a bad american and well frankly a bad human being.

Please stay and express your sick opinions! It's your right as an american to have them. Even if they stand against everything this country stands for.

BTW this is why we need some kind of test or something before people can vote. I mean really if you haven't either memorized or read over the constitution in the last year...should really be allowed to vote?

Mamba, simply couldn't disagree more. Kobe isn't nearly as good as he used to be. What like 15th in PER? He's played lack luster team ball this year. His defense has also dropped off. I mean sure for a 10 minute stretch he can take over a game like well nobody outside of Lebron, Paul, and maybe Durtant but for 48 minutes Nash is unquestionably the better player right now. It's a point guard league after all. (which btw sucks...bring back hand checks, get rid of that stupid box, and stop all the stupid technicals for good hard fouls)

Oh and worst defensive point guards...I nominate the raptors for that one. Hell pick a position and I think they are top 3 for worst defenders at the spot....bosh can kinda play defense I guess.

Rahl, Lebron imo is the least interesting all-star I've ever seen. Add in that the offense of the cavs is the worst since well...the Cav's of the late 90's and what else is there to say? Watching a guy who isn't even the same species as me dominate because it's bigger, faster, and stronger than everyone else just isn't interesting. Watching him do it through isolation plays on the wing is even worse. He's worse than Shaq at his prime and at least shaq always had a side kick who was fun to watch and the offense could move the ball.
