Romney is the definition of establishment politician, but I kinda like the fact that he doesn't realize that the more they stack up against the Trumpet, the more people are outraged and will support him in the election, thanks for being stupid, Mr. Romney :-)

I actually like Romney more than most at this point. He doesn't really give a fluff about what it does for him politically, he votes for his convictions rather than just along party lines. There's like a total of 5 senators that will cross over atm. Two on each side unless you count Murkowski as a republican rather than sometimes independent.

It's like Obama said, "I could send a republican bill to them and they'd just reject it because I sent it." I think the same holds true for Trump in the opposite way. I dig those few that actually put some thought into it rather than just supporting their party blindly and trolling their opponents because it makes them more politically viable.

Impeachment isnt the only thing he crossed over on. I'm at work now and haven't even checked the voting. But I'm not surprised he crossed the aisle. He votes how he feels often even though voting on party lines would be more politically savvy. Joe Manchin is like your democrat equivalent. It's pretty rare and pisses off people who like when their party is "WINNING EVERYTHING." I even enjoy a good democrat no vote on a democrat policy. They make me feel like the person actually has an opinion instead of just pandering.

If romney is attempting to play the middle, he's doing a seriously awful job at it

On topic, Baudrillard once pointed out that the only scandal that came out of Watergate was that there was no scandal. He was pointing to the fact that Watergate was covering up an entirely different scandal. The simulation that conceals reality and in so doing has become reality itself, so to speak. Both parties (teams) are trying to pretend like there are checks and balances on government power, meanwhile all the players have spent the better part of their lives proving exactly the opposite.

This close to the election cycle the reps would have to find someone to run. Maybe he is going for a split vote. Not all reps like Trump. They tolerate him.

Yeah, they actually realized that the people they thought was their supporters are tired of the same old fluff, so now they are adjusting to the conditions in order to keep their seats, don't forget that Mitch McConnell is a piece of fluff establishment hack and part of the reason he's still there is due to him changing his tone.
