So people come on.

Both SOL and SoF have proven it's possible to gain 30 members over 2 sets wether it's getting old vets to return or simply gaining new members. IT IS POSSIBLE!

We gained members... and then lost them the last 2 sets for some reason :P

SOL and SoF both still have their original hosting sites in tact. Hosting sites they have used for at least a decade that have huge contact lists. The same can't be said for those that were unfortunate enough to have relied on Gamerstown and ES back in the day.

hhhmmmm not achieved through Spying but it possible I have one lying around. As we actually created about 100 IX user accounts for our IRC room back in the first SLIT wars.

I remember it being based on the IX GT user list.

I think IX started on GHQ end 2007 begin 2008 :)

imag have a pretty old contacts list. but we never were a huge alliance to begin with.

Imag having roughly half the members of the top mem alliance is only a recent occurence. one that i like :)

Yeah, ES going down wiped out a ton of really good stuff.

Supposedly Empyrean is going to send me a bunch of old UCN/MKR stuff that he was archiving before ES went down. I don't know if goku gave him all of the userlists or not though - but it would be sweet if he did.

I may have some information from when I was a Head IA in IX, which was 2005-2006. I'd have to fire up the old computer to see what I have.

Only reason SancT came back strong for awhile was i had personally saved two members lists, one from early 2005 and one from late 2006.

You can gain members back for awhile cause they're like "oh yeah that game!!!" - Give it 6 months and they'll remember why they quit.. that seems to be a lot of the reason we're seeing a downturn in membership.

Don't mean to be glum or anything, but its true heh.. at least of us.

GT based alliance certainly hurt a lot when GT shut down. I know the alliances I was somewhat in contact with lost a lot of members upon its demise. I was not around when ES shut down, but no doubt those alliances hurt as well. When GT closed a lot of people were out of their comfort zones and simply did not like using ES or alternatives.

Look at IX for example. Just before GT closed down IX was still hovering around 80-90 members on Council, then it went into serious decline. Sure there were other factors that lead to it's eventual fall, but the move from GT certainly hurt.

SOL and SoF are both still using their original websites and thus it is easier for those alliances to bring old members back because they can enter familiar surroundings.
