3.5 people per 100,000 die per year in the US from gun violence. So out of a population of 300 million thats about 10000 deaths

2/3 people who get murdered are black guys. 8% of those are killed by whites, so about 530.

1/3 are white. 15% are killed by blacks. so about 500.

But the black population is 13% of the total or 40 million.

White population is 73%, or 220 million.

So the 'rate' as it's so charmingly put, of white guys shooting black is about 12.5 per million.

Blacks are shooting white guys at the rate of 2.3 per million.

Wow, what a b.s. rate calculation you are using there to support a false narrative. Why are you dividing by the victim pool and not the suspect pool. The most accurate is the pure numbers as they takes both ratios into account. Based on your numbers that makes things fairly even (530 versus 500), though I've seen other statistics that say it is about 2 to 1 (black killing white is twice as common as white killing black).

Using the suspect pool to determine your rate. 11.1 black people per million kill a white person, while 2.2 white people per million kill a black person.

My point really is that the numbers can be cooked all sorts of ways. Lies, damn lies and statistics.

But there's an implicit victim narrative in the blacks kill twice as many white thing, thats at best disingenuos, and at worst dog whistle racism. If you're going to play the victim, then use the victim stats, and they mean any given black guy is five times more likely to be shot by a white guy than the other way around.

well given there are 5x as many white people, that is what the statistic should be if things are 'random'. I think the two biggest points to take from the stats are that things are fairly equal in terms of cross-race murders and overall they are much less common than same race murders. So given those two facts I don't see why it is made into such a big issue. All murders are crimes of hate (even if not labeled as hate crimes) and I would guess almost none of them occurred just because of the victim's race.
