Sparta is certanlly doing better but i assume they had the same problem at times.

Overall - this was not what i expected to be. And is no ones fault - just that we are so few. I had doubts even with the initial plan ( 26 ws 26), what i can tell you 4sure is that this planed war is a fail and it makes even the active ones : careless.

Dragon, buch, azn, Colo, donny, ragging budda are the hardest mother fluffer to kill in this game. I saw the outcome before war even start.

sparta doesn't have any problems (outside few romans who prefer trying to make themselves harder to kill than participating on war).

this is why coalition wars were so prevelant for so long

warring with smaller numbers is a real pain

it would have been easy to change formulas so that offline killing was more efficient and ramped up over time, but instead we had a lot of resets that were designed to prevent fast kills

perhaps something related to turns run below max pop

and as the player base dropped it became more likely wars loss critical mass

if you start with 10 people showing up to a chat, then a few die and a couple miss it becomes impossible to get a kill so the side which didnt get on top early starts to tailspin

as the wallers on the winning side start taking more and more hits to kill they come back with a higher proportion of what they die with

i maintain that restart bonus should be biggest for countries that are blindsided, the point is to prevent up to 2 months of effort disappearing in 30 seconds, not allow an always online waller with 1200 defends to come back with 90% of what they die with

in the same vein, now that team server actually enforces limits on tag cooperation you see the worst possibly version of the critical mass problem

5 people have to either use missiles and spy ops or all be online at the same time (really just before target plays again) to have enough turns to kill one person

killing should have been disabled completely on team ages ago, there was so much talk about disabling killing here (which im glad never happened) and the obvious place to trial it was in team server

btw in e2025 at the beginning (year or so?) the only way to kill was PCI kill, as people could only get down to 8(?) civs but would never regain pop from that point

Fight this exact war, over on FFA. Would have been 304 countries vs 288 and one hell of a war. Although overall, I am pretty happy with this outcome. Fighters got to fight, netters got to net.

I think it was a good experiment. But as other said, doing this on FFA resolves all of this. You can run very successful chats with only 3 people.

in ffa donny would kill half of enemies just with his missiles.

I wouldn't be opposed to that. If even half of peeps who played in this war come to FFA who don't play already, we can probably get a 10 v 10 on war with 160 countries per side.

That being said, it was a good experiment. Not going to get it done perfectly the first try out of the gate.

My major change:
Hold the draft 2-3 weeks into the set of th war itself. People will have a better idea of their availability for a war. There was a drop-off from 25-26 drafted to 17-18, which is a sizeable decrease. If the sides would have been a bit smaller, it would be really frustrating.

I still say separate server for this kinda of thing. Would not see hardly any decrease unless due to irl. Yea the market will not be ideal for so few, but it is possible especially with enough weeks of prep. Did a 5 vs 5 war with only 10 countries supplying the market, like I said it was not ideal but it was good and fun enough.

If you did a separate server, maybe have market access to team or express server to throw a little bit of activity in there?

express goodies market is fluffed up atm and team tech market sux0rs.

Nah, just have it over in FFA. Been dying to get a decent 5 on 5 war or more over there. Suiciders are are a tiny problem but once you got above a certain size/defense you are left alone. Market is healihy with netters doing their thing and farming untaggeds/bots.

FYI, running 16 countries isn't 16x the time if you follow a script, and use the control panel to handle basic management of your countries and most market funtions.

I see the top player for rome #360 has FIVE yes FIVE allies from sof? how fair is that? 360 should drop those allies, rome only.

I for one would like to see RB vs Donny. That's honestly one of the best matchups left in the game.

Wife is likely to be gone for several weeks next set on a road trip out west. So Donny's advantage of being able to hit overnight will be negated.
