Its weird that BYOB guy keeps getting hit by him but he never retals. Yet he retals and hits other people.

The guy randomly targeted me early game when I had no D at 1900acres and just kept repeating. Unfortunately a demo vs a dictator early game meant I have never been in position to take a reasonable retal so instead I have hit other people. His responses to messages indicate he is probably a newer player since he asked why he got less returns on subsequent attacks.

So I fluffed up my kill run and this guy got off the hook. Not like he was ever making a good finish with the gains he got anyways. He has since messaged me threatening to go on kill runs on BYOB forever now since I ROR'ed him last game. He's clearly angry and didn't like my reasoning for it but I think alot of countries would have acted the same.

If someone goes all/heavy jetter past turn 1500 to retal you would you ROR or accept the retal?

In the case last week I hit this guy heavily after he got approx. 4mil jets:1mil turrets. He also had no significant troop/tanks/spies/nukes so he had no chance to deal damage.

It doesn't really matter what other people think about retalling, all that matters is if you're willing to take the risk or not. If you ROR, you break GDI and open yourself up to all kinds of fun. If you use the same country name every round, you risk people holding grudges.

You took the risk, and this is the result. It doesn't really matter what the rest of us think, you've got to deal with this guy.

I could care less that he wants to throw away every upcoming reset as a grudge thats his call. I'll survive just fine when I don't change both strategy and government mid set. I just wanted to know if other players here would have acted in the same way when a guy late retals and basically leaves his front door open with no D and no real way to punish you for breaking GDI

If you think you can RoR without leaving your backside wide open, then go for it. Due to the generous protection of GDI on express, I find this is rarely the case. Once you break GDI, you now have to worry about troops, tanks, spal, and SDI. Not something you can quickly ramp up to if you have ignored all set. If he is high on used turns, has a low spal, doesn't have much military for special attacks, low on cash, low on warfare, and low on missiles, go for it.

The only serious worry I have in this situation is driving off a new player from the game!

To add to my last response, I would likely accept the retal. I will usually accept retals, regardless of timing.

I'm not saying you got what you deserve, I'm saying that what anyone on the forum thinks isn't going to change what this guy thinks and that's really all that matters.
