Just curious how you're doing with the weather .. I'm from Buffalo but haven't lived there in a few years. Also they're talking about postponing the Bills Jets game until Tuesday, so I would appreciate anyone there getting your snow shoes on and going to help them shovel the Ralph. $10/hr and free tickets

i would think they'd have to pay people 10$/hour to watch a jets/bills game... snow or no snow

i think they should just give both teams a tie.. that's better than either team can expect

Solid content Trife. Buffalo manages to sell out almost every home game having not made the playoffs this century, so somebody apparently disagrees with you. We have good fans. And any division game is important

b.s., green bay is right off of lake michigan, so they get lake effect snow

and foxboro is ~15 miles away from massachusetts bay, so you're right, foxboro gets bay effect snow

science!

Alot of areas around the great lakes get lake effect snow, just not many areas have the poential for a long fetch over the lake like Buffalo and and area's around Waterdown do.

Reason Buffalo and areas just south can get a bunch of lake effect snow is due to the long fetch over the lake when the wind is coming from just south of due west. Combined with the increasing elevation as you move away from the lake, the warm, moist over the lake rises above the cold air at the surface, producing snow. The explanation for the magnitude of the snow is A. The Great Lakes are still "warm" this early into the snow season providing more mositure and lake/land temp contrast than a simialar event in Dec/Jan. B, the predominant wind hasn't shifted much over the past few days. and C. The cold air has remianed entrenched longer than normal for November.

Green Bay hires locals to shovel also.
Pretty cool gig.

BUT!!!
And I've wondered this for years...
Why on earth would anyone stick around in buffalo in the winter? They get slammed consistently.
Go run away snowbirds!!!

so 76 inches of snow in a 24 hour period and now well over 9 feet from what I understand, and ummm Buffalo can play in any snow storm that any other team can...you just have to look at a few facts...

1) there is a travel ban in the city
2) people are dying from roof collapses and such.
3) Its the most snowfall amount in a 24 hour period in US history.

Therefore for the safety of fans and players alike the NFL has relocated the game to Detroit

Yea Trife is just trolling Riddler .. they're looking at moving next weeks game too :( I'll be in b-lo for the holidays and have tickets, but it doesn't look good. And as Budda was kind enough to point out, lake effect is the worst to the east of warm water bodies, which is why buffalo gets double the snow of Boston and Green Bay. Sadly we hit our yearly average in 3 days

Buffalo is a good place to drop a U-Haul truck to avoid being tracked when you skip to Canada. But not good for selling diamonds.

Good old Buffalo!
