I never got the chance to max it. Only got it to like 140% each. I'm thinking at this point it probably wouldn't be worth it.

400 turns x 1 mil (additional made if maxed tech) = 400 mil

200k tech required for me to reach 170s range x 2000(buying tech) = 400 mil

Something I've noticed- with less than 400 turns in set- it doesn't seem profitable to LG. Since the turns and money it takes to build on that land makes it counterproductive; unless, of course you're max tech. Maybe then it's profitable.

I don't know if it's exactly 400... but that's always been common knowledge to the good players.

Yeah- I'm still learning. It looks like I may even be short of top 10 goal too. It all depends on the food prices really.

how long before the end of the set should I sell

Goods take a maximum of 45 minutes to reach the market. At 100 minutes left sell the max tech you can except maybe for military. Then sell the max again at 55 minutes left. You'll have 10 minutes to spend the money.

selling max tech 45 mins before will only gain you about 300-400k nw.. not worth it.

So what about selling tech x4 by selling 3 hrs out?

If you are not selling as much tech as you can you are not maximizing your finish.

3hrs = 45 turns = 450mil- yeah nvm i answerd my own question.

300-400k NW is usually the difference between 10th and 11th place. Just saying.....

Celphi, your turns are worth less and less as you destock. You need to run at least a rough calc on how much tech is worth spending a turn to sell when your turns are neg, and if you have that much sell it. Not too hard really. Tech is actually good stock if you get it early enough cuz it pays you twice - as you produce and as you sell. In express there isn't really enough time to go full mbr but in an environment where you can do that with some days to play tech is phenomenal stock.

I guess I'm just being lazy-

If I drop my tech-

18,450*5.3*1 = 97785 bushels per turn

To maximize my sale of tech I would have to sell it all at the end of set.

360,000 tech to sell:

360,000*.45 = 162000 (sell 1)

360,000 - 162000 = 198000 (remaining after sale 1)

198000*.45 = 89100 (sell 2)

198000 - 89100 = 108900 (remaining after sale 2)

108900*.45 = 49005 (sell 3)

108900 - 49005 = 59895 (Remaining after sale 3)

Sale 4 not worth it.

So 45 mins on market is worse case scenario-

3 x 45 = 135mins / 4 mins a turn = 34 turns

So- we've got

360,000-59,895 = 300,105 sold from 3 sales

34 turns missed from 2.2 tech

18,450*5.3*1*2.2 =
215127 bushels (gained from 2.2 tech)

vs
97785 bushels (gained from 1.49 tech) <---- since you have 59895 tech remaining (i checked on eestats)

300,000 x 2 = 600,000k networth lost.

$485,376,644 - 600k netloss vs $248,686,812.

600k net is about $144000000 when you buy troops at $120

341,376,644 vs 248,686,812

So in conclusion-

It was better to sell all tech 135mins out (or 34 turns out) 3x, if you can buy troops or other units comparably to $120 with money with food at $34.
