How long have the game mechanics been in place when kills are achieved in under 30 seconds?

What I posted in the PDM forum:

I was on my mobile, and use AndChat, which is an IRC app. I set the highlights to notify me. I was literally looking at my screen when my notifications said I was being attacked. I logged in to EE, went to the explore screen, hit 30 turns, and by the time I clicked submit, I was dead.

From the time I got the alerts to when I clicked submit was under 30 seconds.

So goddamn frustrating that kills happen that fast. It's cool when we're doing the killing, but when you're the target, you realize how stupid and broken the game is when it comes to warring.

Back when it was a job well done to get a kill under 2 minutes, at least you had a chance. Now there's no fluffing point to even setting alerts. When you're already online and you can't even click fast enough to stonewall, the game all of a sudden isn't as fun anymore.

You are really fluffing about 30 seconds? When RD was in its prime we killed countries in like 5 seconds easy. 30 Seconds with this many countries is not exactly shocking.

If they made it longer then it is too easy to stonewall unless they nerf it dramatically. You can also blame advanced irc bots and coordination for it.

Factor in the lag you receive from those notifications. lol
It's pretty hard to wall using mobile.
QZ's mobile version of earth is also very not friendly for smaller screens.
Buttons are too close to some links (e.g. Refresh military to Attack button).

Yeah I've seen a number of sub 15 second kills... Definitely hard to wall these days.

Spending turns does not help nowadays. you buy up military first, spend turns after.

i feel like country should have a chance if they are online, or get a notefiy.

would make wars last a lot longer in turn whick would make alot more fun

Im talking about within this last year genius. When RD was kicking some ass. Kills were routinely done in sub 10 seconds to get Dragon in Sol. He walled everything else.

with attack again you can do hits quicker than backspace+enter since you can move cursor on top of attack again and then press enter and hits are done until you run out of turns/oil/bushels/money/readiness or target dies.

My suggestion would be after you click "Attack again" it brings you to the Edit Attack/Send attack screen. It would add one step between but would still be better than hitting the back button to attack again.

Agreed, this really should be changed somehow. The quickest any country should be able to be killed imho should be minimum of 2 minutes.

My enemy today was the damn captcha.

It didn't take the first entry, had to do another, got in and went to buy troops ..... dead

The kill run on me was a minute but if it weren't for the damn captcha, I would probably still be alive.

Mine was under 30 seconds and I responded immediately. I was killed literally faster than I could login, load the explore screen and run turns.

I usually leave phone auto-logged into earth. That is because you can not simply wall if your PC is shut down : start computer(20 sec),login to network(10), open earth(3), log in(2), wall ( 5 ).

I go back to the original comment. It's great when you are the one killing countries in less than 30sec but stinks when you are the one being killed in 30 sec. Sounds a lot more like I like it as long as my *enemy* can't do the same thing to me lol

The evolution of Bots in warchats to update breaks quickly, and the quick attack button make kills too fast.

I like the art of stonewalling, I feel like it is the NFL where the rulechanges all favor offense.

I see nothing wrong with "Slowing" it down between attacks. A second cool down after attacking would be a good idea, or one extra confirmation.

Stonewalling should be apart of the game, and should be viable.

before you get hit/wall , make sure to have cash menu ready with turns to used being prepared so you'll just quickly click cash when you get hit . also prepare the purchases menu and dont close it to buy stuff quickly

I agree that walling should be a factor in the game as it did require some skill and was nice to have goals to try and absorb hundreds and hundreds of hits. A 1-2 (randomised) sec cool down on the attack button, even if just for alliance server, i think would be a great way to go.

12 hits (assume breaker) - 12-24sec.
12 hits each (assume 3 mid-breakers at 12 each) - 12-24sec - 36 mid + 12 breaker - 48hits total
12 hits each (assume 6 lower mid breakers at 12 each) - 12-24sec - 72hits + 48 hits - 120 hits total
12 hits simultaneous over the remaining members to kill - 12-24sec - assume 80+ additional hits - 200+ hits

Total run time 48-96sec

I used 12 as it is approx half break and assumed they were perfectly overlapped (i.e all go at once and then immediately the next level of hitters go). For a solo breaker target (e.g. maybe a big guy) you would have 12-24sec to get the alert. By the time you login you might be in the mid to low mid breaker range.

With my assumptions this may hold true for a large number of hitters. Assume a chat where you have 10-12 members you are looking at re-hitting of the mid breakers potentially at the lower mid breakers so factor in a few seconds each for readiness regain.

Something like that would give a defender a fighting chance.

Yes the restart bonus helps but walling would give more an incentive I would think into increasing your restart amount.

Anyway random half asleep ramblings :P

Curious to know what your break was at the beginning of the run. Bigger the break, slower the breaking, easier to wall. If you only had 100k-50k of something there is not much stopping hitters from bring you down quick.

One of the big issues I see is that you can't really get "too big" and thus the break isn't a big deal. Due to the power of spies and demo and just the general that countries don't grow HUGE to where there is a huge gap between top and bottom players (not sure if this is a skill thing or startagy or whatever) but it is real. There aren't countries that any alliance CANNOT BREAK EVER due to size.

I feel like back in the days of 20k countries there were true HUGE gaps. This is why I've always wanted game run bots that just feed land....but clearly not happening :(
