Interesting stat on Ecuador. 88% of their points have come at home. They play at 9,300 feet ASL. Mile High stadium in Denver is only at 5,400 feet. Rio is 62 feet. The only way they have any success is when other teams are huffing and puffing trying to play at altitude.

Got 10/16. With the mention that no one in the world got Costa Rica :P

P.S: Germany group was something like wishful thinking regarding Germany elimination, but i cheered for USA to get out of that group and even reach better stage than 16`.

One of my work mates had a £20 bet on Costa Rica to get out the group!

Mile High Stadium was 5,280 feet above sea level. It wasn't called Mile High plus 120 feet Stadium. Your knowledge in real football makes me question your knowledge in fake football.

if it's 5280 why is there a ring of seats in a different colour to mark 5280? :p

lol shhhhh. But because you spelt color, "colour" I will not respond in a serious fashion. I am a Coloradan, not some wanker, thus I do not know what colour means.

You do realize that elves is also a coloradian, oui?

My picks:
Brazil v Chile - Brazil
Colombia v Uruguay - Colombia (with Suarez, Uruguay probably wins)
Netherlands v Mexico - Netherlands (best match-up of the round, either of these teams could win it all)
Costa Rica v Greece -- Costa Rica, I guess
France v Nigeria - France has looked really good
Germany v Algeria - Germany
Argentina v Switzerland - Argentina
Belgium v United States - United States

Brazil beats Columbia
France upsets Germany
Argentina smokes the US
The Dutch end Costa Rica

Argentina beats Brazil in an all South American dream finale

1. Netherlands
2. Germany
3. Brazil

I agree with your final prediction, archaic. I think that those two also make for the most entertaining final (with the possible exception of Germany).

He was stepped on, and the penalty was warranted. Falling to the ground like he just got shot though is not. FIFA needs to review embellishment after each match and issue fines and suspensions. It's getting ridiculous. Mexican defender left a foot it, clipped Robben, and fouled him. Good penalty. Terrible reaction from Robben.

that penalty kinda ... is a penalty. The football strikers ( specially those schooled in Europe ) know how to accentuate a fall.

But that does not always works in their benefit. Some referees won`t give PK just because they saw the striker accentuating his fall ( altough it was a fault ).

Overall - Netherlands late penalty was a valid one.

That penalty was build up to though. Some ugly fouls were made against robben by mexico in the 16 meters area. Including shin on shin slides etc.

Both sides had ups and downs during the match - overall it was one of the most tense matches I've watched this world cup so far.

USA had their chances. One in `89, that would have ended the game. And 2 big ones @ 2-1.
