heh yes, i'm a bit stuck in between so at the mercy of markets and trends... gives a really strong feel of the market playing both though which is novel. should save me a packet in stocking without the 10% tax or expensive food... but only if i can grow enough in time to make it worthwhile.

The trick is being able to afford buying Ag tech in addition to all your other techs. That's probably extremely difficult, I've never tried it. However, if you're able to do that, growing your own food (just enough to not have to buy) becomes worth it around $45-46 or so (commissions a big reason why). This set's prices are obviously higher than that.

And I think it would be worth it, only to feed your country. At this point with the food at $60+ maybe you can make even more by selling excess food for $65 but I wouldn't want to make too much, since you know a commie farmer can't compete with a Demo one, you don't want to swing too far into farmer territory, it will probably not help the destock either. But would be nice to make a surplus, you can bank it and then eat it when you destock and net gets high and food goes negative.

Your country news for each country isn't working. It is only showing the last 72 hours (I think), instead of all news. The dropdowns for 24/48/ALL news isn't working (gets no news), and the buttons on the right for Hitstats/Graph do nothing. The History button brings up a popup, but contains no history (0 lines).

If I DH against you early in the set and you don't retal immediately, does that exempt me from being grabbed by you for the remainder of the set? If yes, I may employ that strategy next set..

Because it wasn't a normal grab, it was a topfeed. Basically he's leveraging GDI rules to take a harmless nothing from 30 days ago and jack 4453 (6675) acres from somebody with it. Like, do you think a bounce warrants a 5000 acre grab a month later for a "retal"? Is that what you'd describe as what the concept of a "retal" should cover? Of course not. But if #84 hits back to get some land in return, he opens himself up to a first strike, missiles, war, and so on. In a way it's smart! He's taking advantage of an opportunity for a massive land gain! But it's also a low blow for the victim. And it's a gamble... Some people will feel they have no choice but to let it go, while others will want to respond and fight. I know if he did that to Chewi, it would be ON.

Well it's the same attacking downward.. leveraging GDI by hitting a guy for land you know most likely won't retal you, just for a different reason.

I had 13m jets to about 8m turrets. I had to buy turrets to match NW. How was that a topfeed? And who cares? He was the best target amoung the big commies up there since I could easily match NW's and he had 45k acres.

Depends on how you define topfeed, but attacking a 45k land country from a 24k land country would generally be seen as a topfeed, as he can't get equal land back even with a retal. In addition, hitting a country you know can hit back because you think you'll gain on the trade, this is another metric for identifying a top feed. I'm sure he could hit back. But that's just terminology. The point is, you took 5000 land from a guy based on a 30-day-old DH. That's either a smart use of GDI rules or a low blow depending on how one looks at it. Or you could actually just try to claim it's a legit retal, heh..

Its using the GDI rules to my advantage. If he attacks he opens up his GDI for a first strike. What is shady is grabbing 102 little countries like #9 did. Should we feel sorry for him because I was the 1% of those countries who hit back?

it's this kind of variable that makes primary interesting.. each grab you makes you wonder what kind of person runs this country.. Will he go all out to retal you?

if all you had to do was bottomfeed your way out to the top without any hiccups, it will be just monotonous and boring...

It was a rational hit. The 6500 acres protected my from BiBigons missile retal since I had extra acres to lose. I have a chance to develop those acres since there's lots of time left in the set. And I have 5 more targets in the top 30 who will all be thinking about bumping up their defences which will be very expensive for them with bushels selling at $66 to $70.
