In 1 b you couldn't stock early, you'd be farmed. Unless you're talking when there was thousands of countries/multies, then you could kind of get away with it because there were lots of good land targets to spread the hits around.

I think one of the most significant reasons is the presence of many suiciders 5-10 years ago. To avoid suiciders, one typically stocked early and try to keep a low profile until the end. With the introduction of GDI protection, this is no longer an issue, hence people start grabbing more and stock later.

There have also been changes to the game mechanics in terms of the formulas (building cost; attack gains; military losses etc) though these were pretty recent.

The number of people playing this game also plays a part. There's less land to go around nowadays compared to 5-10 years ago. So it was easier to get to the desired land target in the past and hence the early stocking.

I'm not sure why people think its "profitable" to hit a country that they think "maybe it can't retal". With jets as cheap as $105 (though it's more like $115 today due to the many big retals made today), this is a silly thought.

Well tech prices sucked so much that other countries grew faster than techers, which maybe had a balancing effect that let demand increase a lot faster than supply. Also a 20k techer (Crazy) going into war. Also #3 2x ROR'd Crazy and I'll bet he's not done. Will be interesting to see if these prices hold or if they're just a blip. It's probably too late for techers to compete anyway, though. Still a casher reset I'd say, but no Rep cashers on the radar. There's the one Dem casher plus the dicts. That could open things up for the commies. There's a couple of good farmers too but they'll need some market help. Maybe the techers will start stocking more now that tech is selling.

Funny to see how things completely open up when xinhuan and hao are removed from the competition (say thanks to h20 and his 'friends' for that).

Lots of commies, 3 big dicts, 2 Demos and a Rep (and a monarchy in a pear tree...) all up there at the top for land. It's possible that the rep's too far behind the dicts in land to come back, especially as they are just coming into their grabbing power and should be accelerating away.

#80 and #82 are the country numbers and as far as the other numbers that's the land taken from the attacked country for the first number and then the total land in the parentheses. Total land is higher because you get extra bonus land when you attack created out of thin air.

Granted I haven't played since round 14, but there seems to be a huge drop in countries playing. Don't remember having a hard time finding targets. Reached 59k land rather easy last round that I played. Still might get 60k this round, but not likely. Hit nearly everone 25%-50% my NW. Gonna have to start making mid grabs and try to out run retals or *gasp* top feeds.

Has this been a trend for a while, or am I forgetting something?

There used to be 1000+ countries usually. So yeah we're down by over 25% in number of countries. I don't think it's really been trending that way, seems to have happened rather suddenly. Last set was down a bit I guess.

The land numbers have gone down due to the 1. Ghost acre being nerfed for Dicts, and midfeeding now gives less land 2. Building cost increases exponentially now instead of linearly 3. Bottomfeeding now costs more jets losses for the attacker (about 50-60% more attacking units die).

This is actually incorrect because the news came from EEStats. The second number is the total amount of land gained. The difference is the amount of land created out of thin air, called Ghost acres.

However, in Boxcar, you would be correct. Boxcar reports only the Ghost acres in the second () and you need to add both together to get the total land gained.

Uh has it? From ~1100 when you and oldman posted your highest scores to under 700 right now - by the end, under 800 definitely. That's a substantial decrease.

Check the top 50 for techers. Maybe #230, #62? But even those are theos and may not be stocking bushels. There might be literally no techers worth a salt stocking food this set, haha. There's been 150m bushels sold in the last 24 hrs and ONE big demo techer stocking food would probably add another 25m to that at these prices.

I've long since stopped trying to explain to newer ones (and for some unknown reason quite a few vets) how to be a farmer. Getting militarty tech and selling your food instantly on private market for 34(35 for demo) is just too much for most to comprehend. They can't understand how much better off you really are than selling for 36-38. Even a demo doesn't benefit selling for 38. You lose too many turns putting it on the market, and lose more than you would think to decay. Not even to mention you get your money instantly so you can reinvest it quicker. Plus you lower the supply of food which increases the price on the public market.

(But then again, I do suppose this post is another attempt :P)
