I just thought of another reason for being tech allies. It helps two players share information about their countries. That could be great for two people learning to improve their games together. One time I was an Offensive Ally with JJ23. He was amazing at landgrabbing every 2 hours. He was the first person I saw to go through all the countries on the server to win, and being his ally I learned a lot. I'm applying those lessons today in Express and I've got 16881 acres maxed out with tech since turn 1250. So being allies is fun and you learn stuff.

But Getafix, you could learn the exact same thing from eestats news. I would say the main reason why he was able to do what he did was through borrowing so many jets which allowed him to make more PSes than usual or invest more into tech earlier (upward tech spiral).

I learned that he spied each target out very carefully and hit them precisely. It seemed like a lot of work, but I realized that you can't win this game without hard work whichever strategy you use. You can see some things from eestats, but you learn from watching good players and talking to them. And yes, using the OA capability and sucking in an OA ally was part of his strategy. He would do anything to win I think. That's where we differ, JJ and me. I believe that there are principles of fair play that are more important than winning. Anyways, you can learn a lot from an ally.
