I would venture that, of the four most popular strats, this is the pecking order:

Indy, Techer, Casher, Farmer

Casher's are not ideal. I used to make a point of all-xing as a casher (because it was easy), but with no jets, you're always a target. If you grab, you're actually better off even though you'll carry less defense and have lower techs; people might look past you because of the perception that you can and will retal them.

There are a couple of keys to a very solid casher though.

Yeah, it's funny how casher rules on Primary and Tourney and yet on Express it's comparably weak. On the other hand it's the easiest strat to play if you don't have time, because you never need to wait for goods to sell. Just mash the buttons.

My experience is that Farmer would be better than Casher if not for the fact that people just won't stop placing food for less than 40.

Cash starting a casher can be a bit time-consuming if you do it my way. But if you do, you get to turn ~330 w/ 220 CS and usually between 150-157% bus/res (price-dependent).

Farmers are hairy b/c you have to wait for food to sell and, unlike techers and indies, you don't have tech or military inflating your NW to deter grabbers.

TDA -- A Theo Casher start would be similar to a Rep Casher. The difference is # CS. You only need something like 154 CS for a 60 bpt as a Theo, compared to 220 CS as a Rep. The key to the Rep Cash start is the CS. More CS = More tech.

If you really slow-play it, you can do the same thing w a Theo (to 155 CS instead) and then wait for tech to come down before growing, because you'll be limited in tech from the get-go. You have to be careful with a Theo too; you could grow too fast and become tech-thin. Then if you're grabbed, you're in trouble.
