Perhaps I don't. The highest bidder gets whatever comes through the market at or less then the maximum price they specified?

the oldest order for the price, or higher, gets the goods. orders reset every 72-96 hours, i believe

so if someone has a 180 order and its the highest, and you put one for 181, and sell for 181. you will get them. every time. period.

im the worst netter in this game, and i know this fluff....

I get what you are saying now. The mechanics just don't make sense. In what world would goods being sold not go to the highest bidder? Except for certain contract auctions of course. But as a newer player, this makes absolutely no sense to me. I put in the highest bids, I took the risk of purchasing product at a higher cost then I don't even end up with my own stuff? I was willing to pay more than every single person on FFA and I don't even end up with the goods? The free market doesn't seem so free anymore...

ha good point.

Well if a mod reads this then you guys might consider actually explaining this to new players. I went almost a year thinking common sense was enough to play this game.

I think your over thinking it... you didnt outbid everyone on FFA you actually underbid most of FFA. Just because you submit a standing order that doesnt mean someone is going to sell to you at that price. Standing orders are like me going to the tv store and saying I will buy 100 tv's at $150, when they are currently selling at $250. If their product isnt moving, or is moving slowly, or they want a guaranteed sale they can take me up on my offer, but they dont have to.

I understand what you are saying, but you are misunderstanding the difference between bidding and buying. I didn't underbid most of FFA because I did in fact have the highest bid. When you go to the market and out right purchase a good, that is not bidding. Bidding requires the buyer to set a certain price level and the seller to accept that price. When you buy from the market that is not on a standing order, the seller is setting the price and the buyer accepts that price.

never has and never will be, alliances/teams declare wars against eachothers due some1 did something x sets ago or some other weird reason and many players bash others on daily basis, some players do big market undercuts just to cause troubles to others, etc.

Don't think of standing orders as a "bid."

It's the maximum price you're WILLING to pay when going to a market with set prices.

It's less a bid than it is like saying you're willing to spend up to $500 on some product, and going to the store with the intentions of buying if you find it at $400, $450 or $500, but not for $550.

If the item is $400, you're not going to offer the store an additional $100. You're going to take it at $400 and be happy you still have another $100.

Just like if someone who was only willing to spend $400 walked into the store 2 minutes before you, the store (most likely) is still going to sell it to that guy because he inquired first, rather than making it a bidding war just because you're willing to pay more.

I think it's entirely realistic that at end of set, I have more tanks in my country than I do civilians.

it happens (many times some1's bushels stock at ~100 bucks has sold and some1's oil stock at ~500 has sold), sadly its not easy to predict.
