Also not that hard is running an attacking indy into the top ten. Winning is never easy but someone like Viva who runs a good indy wins all the time

It's not overly hard once you get it down. Dodging grabs and balancing military levels w/ tech levels can be a tad tricky depending on when you decide to play turns and how many grabbers there are and how aggressively they're hitting.

I don't usually like to grab .. but maybe I'll start mixing it up a tad.

Tech starts are key to grabbing indies and I don't really have the time to put together a tech ring every set. It's easier for those in the same Alliance tag (aka LaF).

Well and of course you can do even better if you grab, but it risks wars and retals more. If you wanna set records or win often then that's the way to go, but all-x is a safer way into just the top ten I think.

I think last set was my first all-x set ever. I got 23.5m which will top ten every set probably.

Yeah, and I've been okay with t5s and t10s. Winning's nice, but you either have to be an indy or you have to have absolutely awesome market conditions for any of the other strats.

Grabbing does require more time though. If you're all-exp you can usually log in and burn a bunch of turns in a row (ESPECIALLY with casher, since you don't even need to wait for things to sell). If you're grabbing and trying to make every turn count you won't want to just cash 50 turns or explore 50 turns or whatever. Then if you fall behind you're more prone to being grabbed, and if you retal without burning turns you sometimes get RoRed and so on...

I was under the impression that most who played all x-er used rep, but sounds like some of you are doing it with commie. Is that right?

I tried for the first time last set, but used rep. I seem to always get complacent with my land at some point each set and fall behind. I just began playing express a few months (after playing E2025 15+ years ago). Trying to use express to get back into the groove.

Nice stats to all of you. I finish top 25-35 with my small land size, but haven't made it over the hump yet.

blid is a pro but last set he definitely had a nice all x set with super super cheap tech early on and expensive oil for grabbers. but a very nice country and a superb all x .

but dont do it unless you are trying to prove a point or really dont have the time to grab

I usually play tech and grab, so my timing was perfect last set with the casher and crazy cheap market prices. All-x isn't too bad on a casher, but when the low returns kicked in it seemed extremely weird, especially since it was my first attempt at it and I am accustomed to grabbing.

Good luck to you guys this set and, again, nice statistics you all posted.

Hammer -- all-x Rep cashers and Commie indies can definitely reach the top 10 w/ little effort. Generally, land goals for those strats will be between 12-15kA.

Vic's right though. If you have the time and the knowledge, grab. You'll end up w/ a shot at much higher NWs if done well.

Uh there was a big explore acres per turn buff. Plus a PCI buff. And yes, the all-explore record holder is at 28.7m net, in a round so long ago aid was allowed I believe. That player never grabbed for land but did join in on some AB runs with other guys so I don't know what kind of fluff was going on.

About all-x, if a guy exploring his way peacefully gets grabbed and he decides to retal that hit, is he still considered all explore? Though common sense tells me he wouldn't be all explore if he hit back.
