sw has more ships and better lasers and deathstars which can destroy ships quite easily and sw has bigger ships so more firepower.

as far as who would win overall? I'm going with the tal shiar, the obsidion order, and the dominion to pull it out for trek

In Starwars everyone is militarized because they are at war. Most of star trek they are not really at war (except for DS 9).
I agree that star trek had much better writing though.
Regarding sheer destruction: in starwars they blow up a planet, in star trek all they succeed in doing is resurrecting Nimoy.:P

Star Trek has an 11 year head start on tech when compared to Star Wars. plus it wasn't made exclusively to brainwash children. when Star Wars developed warp technology, the Federation was already there and fully capable of telling them where to take their place.

Star Wars doesn't have warp technology, they use their "hyperdrive" go to "lightspeed".

One can safely assume that they mean many many times the speed of light, or the star wars galaxy is very small :P

romulans have cloaked ships (which federation don't have for some reason even they stole cloaking device at least once) so that gives st some advantage (maybe).

speedwise they might be on same line (sw ships don't do long trips quite often and st ships do several days trips quite often).

if match would be federation vs imperium match could be quite equal, if match would be federation vs rebel aliance (or new republic) then federation could win, if all races/factions from both verses (no borgs or qs) then each have their pros and coins and sw could have more firepower and siths and jedis are very good on mindtricks etc while st could have strategic advance and move better than sw's big ships (immperial star destroyers for example) so battle would be tight but st could win it.

They have equal or lesser technologies than those who make it on board though Tella, so against lesser technologies that probably would never be an issue. I just doubt as much as I would like to think that they might stand a chance... that Star Wars would come anywhere close to winning...

data would do science and neutralize the jedis powers, reverse the shields and warp drive backwards into a supernova, (or however they want to write the particular story) and star wars would lose to the white humans in the federation, hands down.

clones are tricky, but ds9 had self cloning mines, so for every clone sw throws at them st throws back a self replicating mine and star trek once again wins.

we all realize this is one of the dumbest arguments any of us could take part in, right? :P
