That's awesome.... I'm sure he violated lots of company rules and, depending on what kind of work he did, maybe some laws...
But, I have to wonder -- was management satisfied with his work performance over the last 6 months? In other words, whatever his means, was he getting the work they expected him to do done?
You can bet that if the company "outsourced" his work, that contractor would probably also use developers overseas to increase their margins. The only difference here is that he (inappropriately) used deception to create a profit margin.
It is sad though that he didn't find any actually productive use of that extra time though... He should have at least been playing a country here...
