I think you miss the point, netting (which includes landgrabbing and retalling) is supposed to be profitable. Nobody really worries if they are not profitable when they are at war. Its not that they cant retal you, its that its going to suck to have to buy oil that cost more than a tank just to recover 300 acres.

BTW, anyone who farms the 'Monks' tag excessively may face some unfortunate consequences.
