anybody feel like enlightening me as to why it takes Access 45 seconds to display data that SQL Server Management Studio can display in under one second?

advanced? um, possibly...
it didn't run at all in Access. Timeout expired. well, i did get it to run by upping OLE/DDE timeout from 30 to 60. which is a bit of a useless thing for me to do.
i have no idea why it started to perform so poorly, but it went back to acceptable after i rebooted SQL Server.
