Everyone else has pretty much said it correctly. IT's basically the same game, but we've got developers that actually care about the game and make changes to try to make the game better. They actually enforce the multi limit, so it seems at least the vast majority of players are legally within the limit (hard to say they catch everyone, and people have theories about certain people, but overall the game is clean).
Since there isn't anyone running 100 or 500 or 2000 countries, the clans are smaller and there are fewer of them, but as someone earlier said, there are about 10 clans or so that are still operating. Some of the old names, like PANLV, IMP, NBK, ESD. Others are new clans but with old names. Ultimately, most of the players are people you're likely to remember. There's some new blood to the game, but mostly it's the same old people still running countries.
You should join back up with someone! :)
I know you were obviously more of a warrior back in the day than a netter, but if you want to net, you should come join us in PANLV.

If you want to war, the best options are probably NBK, IMP, CC, or FoCuS (FoCuS is run by Crippler, just to give you an idea of at least one person there)
