Just curious on opinions between the two. Are either as buggy as I have heard? Are they game breaking bugs?

Deciding on which one for steam sale if anyone can give advice.

I prefer New Vegas, but only by a little. They're both fantastic. The bugs are pretty much gone by this point due to patches. It's nothing to worry about.

Get NV. I'd buy it if I still had the $$$. I just spent my Steam allowance getting Bastion and the Total War Pack.

I haven't played 3. FNV is slow going at the start, but the story is kinda cool once you get into it. Played it on ps3. It probably froze the ps3 maybe 3 or 4 times in the total time I played it, which seemed like a loooong time. Other than that, the bugs didn't bother me.

Though, to be honest, I wasn't real impressed with FNV compared to BioShock 1/2, any FF game, etc...

This is propably what I'd say, too.
The awesome thing for 3 is that you can actually recognize parts of DC. It's such a long time ago that I played 3, while I played NV only early this year.
Both are really recommendable and not so expensive to get during the current steamsale.

I thought Fallout 3 was incredible. But to be fair I only played the beginning of FNV. But DC in FO3 was pretty incredible.

I started playing FO3 again about two weeks ago, first time in about 6 months, loved every minute of playing it. Not so much about FO: New Vegas, but it's a decent game, love both of them.

I think Fallout 3 has a slightly better story, but only if you get the DLCs (especially the Brotherhood of Steel one). Otherwise it has one of the worst endings in modern history. :P

NV is nice because it gives the player more choice on how to affect the wasteland and there are better guns. I have not played expansions to NV though. The disadvantage is that the story feels a lot less personal IMO.

NV if you enjoyed original Fallout/Fallout 2. It has the same atmosphere, while FO3 is more linear, pretends to be serious and has a lot less crazy funny stuff in it than NV.
