Thing is, yeah sure! everyone wants to run more countries, but nobody wants to be equal.

What is the difference in adding say 16 more countries? EVERYONE will run 32, which makes it no different than EVERYONE running 16, sure there is more land, but there is also more capable retallers.

I'd be fine with 8 tbh. I wouldn't run more than 16 if more were allowed.. I might even quit as I wouldn't have even playing ground as those with more free time.. I'd also get bored quicker.

I miss those days of unlimited, and I always ran all mine by hand on a dial-up to boot. sometimes I'd run 30 sometimes hundreds it made things interesting. wars became knock down drag out fights instead of FS wins and netting with 60 or 90 countries was a chalange. there were maket buyouts to block or ride and danger around every turn. think of the damage a suicider could do with 300 countries.

I only play 16 because I have to in order to be on equal footing.

Otherwise, I fully agree with Havoc. 8 would probably fit the amount of time I'd prefer to dedicate to the game.

15 was Mehul's rule at 2nd(?) and last reincarnation of FFA but still many had 100+ countries and many used bots to run their countries (bot-detector at FFA was more joke than it was at Alliance and some said that there were bots even at Earth Council).

I played FFA since autumn 2006 and every set except last were open to end and last got "closed" after 2-3 weeks from start. maybe Mehul closed other sets too when he put FFA on hold.

Lets not forget about xynx and snoop, xynx was about the best I ever seen. As far as showing you how, If it were allowed I could show you. I never ran more than 300 or so but that's only because I was a bit anal about playing them everyday. Most of the players that had 600 or more hand run played the countries only once every 3 days. Well it was supose to be every 3 days but sometimes that streched out to once every 5 or 6 days.

Man. 50 is a LOT of countries. I mean, not compared back in the day when I ran 150 by hand (which wasn't any big deal then), but
it's all I can do to make myself play 16 every day.

You guys that wanna run 50+ are just mad crazy hardcore dudes.
