If you are going to sell them for $31, at least have the courtesy to sell them in 126 small batches. We'd really appreciate that.

Early set farming always sucks, but $31 reeks of either newbishness or somebody gaming the system.

Except he was wrong and Nuketon is correct. When selling, the seller gets x0.94. When buying, the buyer pays x1.06.

1/1.06 is not equal to 1x0.94.

Its a TAX, you pay it in addition to the price. You are correct in stating that '1/1.06 is not equal to 1x0.94', but thats not how tax is calculated. I never sell even numbered items and check the math, EE may well take the shortcut of only paying 94% of the sale price, but thats not how a sales tax is calculated.

And seriously, if this keeps up the entire top 10 is going to be cashers.

How so archaic? Say you had 1000 of any good sold at 1000, result would be 1000000, now take 6% as tax leaves you with 940000. Math is math, all logic. You only pay it in addition to the price if you are the buyer. When you are getting taxed as the seller, you pay a % of gross profits.

No sir you don't but thanks for trying. When I go to the store and buy a $1 dollar item I pay 6% sales tax so my total is $1.06. Now, when the state of TX comes to the store looking for their money, the store owes them the whole 6 cents. The seller is setting the price, not the buyer.

Now in Europe, they calculate the VAT the way you are saying, and the tax is built into the sale price.

Uhh you fail to understand the market takes tax both ways archaic... From both the buyer AND the seller, but thanks for trying. In this game buyer pays 1060 for goods priced at 1000, of which the seller gets 940. And as it relates to the first post of this thread in which 133tz was talking about profit for the seller, I am correct and you are not.

It rounds down the final value of each block of goods bought/sold.

Say you sold 1 bushel at $31, you would get $29 and lose 0.14. (31*0.94 = 29.14)

If you sold 10 bushels, you would get $291 and lose 40 cents (31*0.94*10 = 291.4)

If you sold 100 bushels, you would get $2914 and lose nothing.

Basically, someone could make you lose a lot of money if they bought your bushels 1 at a time or 10 at a time. But in practice, you don't really lose anything past a few cents.

Also I want to remind the last 10 posts or so of posters that when you sell goods, you get back 94% of the price you sold at (x0.94) and the tax is not calculated after (it is not /1.06).
