We're 8 guys (probably more next time) trying out the game. Are we failing pretty bad?

We are beating the Eastside Ballers... or baller. But all advice would be appreciated.

Get pacts, only retaliate hits with standard or planed attacks. And understand that some alliances can be real fluffs, you will have to compromise some times until you make a name for yourself.


Or you could join imag, but this game does need more alliances :)

By pacts you mean defensive, offensive etc?

We figure we'll probably get picked on since we're small, but that's ok.

Do clans get pretty mad when they are standard attacked or is that acceptable?

It's a cool game. We like the math side of things since we're mostly engineers and finance people.

Most of the people playing the game fit that description.

By pacts he means non aggression pacts. They are agreements not to hit each other. Smaller tags have a tendency to get farmed, so to new tags, so you can only imagine what happens to new small tags.

Do you have any diplomats? :)

It would be wise to have one or two people to represent your group as the point of contact. And to learn some of the basics in terms of inter-alliance relationships from a nice representative from another alliance.

It would also be wise to remember that the only people you can trust is yourself when it comes to these inter-alliance relationships.

New players to this game is a rare thing to see... an entire group of friends all joining together as an alliance is unheard of. Could this be the rebirth of Earth?

best advice I can give you is not to just retal PS/SS. If guys farm you collectively suicide as a clan. This way that clan will not be hitting you in the future.

and it will also make sure that they kill you.
I suggest you talk to evolution and lafamiglia first, since their members are usually the first to take advantage of unexperienced players, as you may have already noticed.

Sure you will get killed for a few sets, but the alliances will eventually realise your not worth it.

Getting killed 'for a few sets' (or even one) will probably discourage newer players.

First of all you must get some pacts. Not ingame pacts - but pacts with alliances that play this game.

In order to do that you must have a dimplomat ( FA ) representant who is singning pacts. Some alliances ( for example the one i am playing in - under the name SOL ) gives free non agresive pacts to new alliances, because we want this game to evolve and have more players.

Other will just farm you and send SMS at the end of the reset about how "brave they were".

Second - you must learn to play a country. For that i can pass you some strategies ( pm insite if interested ).

I would reccomand 3 of your members to play commie-indy. That means you go comunism governament - and all the land is build with industrial complex. Those 3 members should ally each with other ( defensive, offensive and intelligence ) and retal with PS all the hits made on your clan. First - retal the hits 1:1 - for every hit they made you retal. If they don`t stop, well - that`s when the funny part of this game beggins :).

PDM will be setting you guys to DNH (do not hit) to celebrate your inaugural set. If you have any questions about game mechanics, or more importantly game politics, feel free to send me (or for that matter, just about anybody here) a PM.

Best bet would be to outpost as your own division in an established alliance. You will learn the ropes and be able to build up your own alliance in the near future. Will also allow you to learn the "ropes" while getting yourselves off the ground.

Saying that, Survival of the Fittest (SoF) is always looking for new members!! ;-)

My advice is that you contact someone from LCN. #575 is gonna get you all killed.

be careful who you message about politics -- some people will likely try to use you. archaic/pdm is a safe bet to give you the accurate story. but I also play in PDM, so take that comment with a grain of salt! but we are one of the "nicer" alliances, in my opinion.

pfft, laf is already farming the fluff out of them, lol

trying to be objective pdm rd sanct and so on are likely to be nicer to you because they are happy to landtrade amongst eachother in a semi organised fashion so have little need to farm you

others who dont landtrade tend to grab a lot, think evo/laf with lcn and some others also grabbing a lot

could be worth your while trying team server out at the same time

ive heard its a bit messed up lately but its small enough and possibly evenly balanced enough that 8 people there would be somewhat useful if you picked a side to ally with

while in this server you are unlikely to make a difference, though unless you are dodgy in some way at least half the alliances would let you join all together if you wanted

you could say in team you will join the side who farms you the least and see if you get dnh from both sides that way

the main advantage though is the game would restart twice as fast, so if something goes wrong theres a lot less dead time while you wont be able to learn much

express is also handy for learning startups in particular since you can do it once a week, or make up to 16 in ffa

actually even if you were horrible 8 of you running 128 countries in ffa could achieve a lot with only a couple of people giving you advice but it would be a much larger time commitment

I'll try to provide a little more insight for you guys:
there are 2 major ways to play this game. either netgaining, aka trying to reach the highest networth possible at the end of a set. a decent finish is above 100 million NW, which you propably wont reach during your first set here, even if you werent busy fighting off guys who try to take advantage of your unexperience. The best players reach 250-400 mil.

The other way to play is to war other alliances by killing their countries. You can kill countries by either taking all their land(with Standard Strike or Planned Strike attacks) or by killing all civilians of a country(which is the easier option 90% of the time) using Bombing Run or Guerrila Strike attacks. Some alliances war almost all the time, because they like it more than netgaining, others do it from time to time for fun and often it obviously is also a way to resolve conflicts between alliances

Thanks for all the advice, it has been very helpful. We are sorry for any attacks that have been been performed by our clan that may have been out of line. We will be having a team meeting soon to discuss our strategy as far as possible pacts.

One of our members is working a website on boxcar. What is he all expected to put on there? We will try to have ambassadors soon.

We appreciate the offers to join other clans, but we think we're going to stay independent for now. We have some other players practicing in other worlds who will hopefully join our clan next restart. Hopefully our strategies will be more polished by then.

If you're all new to the game your best bet is to join an alliance with good teachers so you can all learn how to play first. Then I would branch out on my own.

Alliance server is very unforgiving to new players.

earth has really changed...back in the day everyone would farm new players out of the game ;p

irc (internet relay chat) is the best place to mingle with other players/alliances. get mirc, it's the best client. mibbit.com is a good browser based option.
