Farming is difficult because of this, you're right bug. On all servers. The 'accepted sell price' is always low... even when current prices are super-high, people undercut by 50% rather than 20% with e.g. mil/commie, or even tech.

Farmer is far stronger in the longer set servers though.. the strength is stocking bushels more efficiently than other strats... and not many need to stock bushels in express which keeps demand low... AND it's a short set. Lose Lose.

KoH. i do a tech start with every strat.

simply the way to play in express.

1. your land becomes that much more effective
2. tech is expensive early and you cannot maintain adequate off/def and buy tech
3. you mask a lot of your nw and dont look as fat.
4. you grow faster because u give others a chance to get fat before u hit them.

when i set the facist record.. i switched to fast right before i started teching.

teched bus/res to 125. weap to 120 and agri to about 220.

i do a long tech start (120k pts or so) on about 3k land. (2700 labs).

Long tech start is 120k? Hmmm than what do you call my 330k tech start?

At what turn are you fully converted? I can get 330k with full conversion @ 700. With 3.8k land.(Theo)

i also do most of my bpt building during a tech start

so 160-180 cs (depending).

id say converted by turn 450-500? just a guesstimate.

you also tech on a higher land than me... with a theo bpt bonus, so thats not too surprising. maybe next reset ill experiment with a 200k tech point start... which would have proved advantageous this reset. have u seen the prices? a techer better win this.

im not sure whats optimal.. i guess it varies each set with prices.. which is the thing with exp. u never know what the market trends are because every reset is totally different.

i do think 330k is too long tho

by turn 700 i like to be grabbing an already making it into the top 30 or so...

because i wanna be done grabbing by turn 1000, but more realistically turn 1200 for sure.

just dont think that doing that extensive of a tech start gives me enough time to grab, stop @ turn 1200 or less, and then stock.

but thats just my opinion. i know oldman did a longer tech start than me this reset, and hes one of the best players around. so..

330k is really long, but I tried it and it worked pretty well. I ended up with an allx Theo with about 25mil NW at the end.
Distribution was even through military, business, and residential. If I did some more reselling I could've finished higher.

I only use it when tech prices are still over 3k @ turn 500 or so. If you can buy tech @ 2300 or less I find tech starts aren't that beneficial.

well generally i dont play till thursday mid day.. when i have 360(300) turns. when i started this reset, tech was down to 2050, so i figured sweet...

and now its selling for 2500

go figure.

tech prices at turn 500 dont mean jack to me. everytime i pick a strat based on HOW prices are thursday when i start. and fail.

indy prices are low. i go casher. fail. indy prices are amazing again this set.

i swear. im just going to pick a strat and play the same one for 10 resets in a row. doing little tweaks. maybe then i can optimize something.

too lazy to run a dedicated excel spreadsheet to find optimal amount of tech to tech start per military/tech prices.
