35 to casher and 36 to others.

lower tax% more pop but less income, higher tax% slighly less pop bute more income.

It is 35% if you assume population eat 0 food per turn (differentiation of revenue formula and equate to 0 and find tax%).

Otherwise it varies between 34% to 35% depending on food price on the market. With food about $40 it is closer to 34.5%.

Just leave it at 35% and save the trouble.

I am shocked by the amount of misinformation in this thread, particularly from Xinhuan =P

35% is the default tax rate and it is the default tax rate because it is the best most of the time, independent of how you set up your country. There are circumstances where it can make sense to alter your tax rate and as the round progresses those changes will generally be to raise your tax rate, if necessary.

at beginning or end its quite often to play 1+ turns with higher tax%, not too many at beginning or you lose too much pop.

But what you said doesn't contradict what I said. The ideal tax rate only depends on one thing - the market food price - and that is independent of how you set up your country.

There are obviously valid situations when you want to raise or lower taxes (such as first 100 turns, or when you are being killed), but those are exceptional situations, and aren't "ideal".

Mathematics doesn't lie, and given everything else is a constant (i.e your pop isn't changing every turn), the ideal is 35% if ignoring food upkeep and price.

As food prices go up you want to increase tax rate, not decrease it to 34%. You said the ideal tax rate varies between 34 and 35% which is not true.

If you have it around 35% you'll be ok. If you want to nerd out and build a spreadsheet for it I'm sure you can find an 'optimal' tax rate for every turn you spend... Do you want to change your tax rate often? If not KISS and just leave it at 35 or 36% depending on your country :p

I have mine at 37% 0.o Then again I'm building like 500+ Res. to keep my pop from going into red. But I'm getting 100k+ every turn and I'm building at least 700+ farms to keep up, well then again ima farmer, so if you were to raise tax rate you'd still have to build 100+ Res. To keep pop up then 80-120+ farms to keep production up too. Then that all changes depending on your country and strat. But you get my point... I hope.

if you are building residences and farms at the same time, you are failing.

No no no its like maybe 1k farms 200-400 Res. In that order but it takes while so in that 1k farms I build 200 Res. Lol every turn I'm getting 300+ people which ia spiking my income up quite a bit, if i wanted to build ezs that would be even better, but I'm not a casher, ima farmer. :-)

If you'tr a farmer then you should have 0 res and 0 ent. Sell bushels to fund your turns. Even at $29 on the private market you will be more efficient and get more cash than if you build ent and res

Well, if youre trying to maximize revenue, I've found that 53% seems to be the best.

EDIT: Ignore that, I just did the calculations with a varying PCI value, and it comes out to 35% most of the time.

so the best rate is 35% in a rep-casher. i haven't played in a long time but i used like 40% and hit 2,000,000 dollars a turn.

only reason to lower tax% is to gain population back after gs or br attacks (latter helps too if isn't casher).

not unless bushels price is high and you don't want to spend so much money to bushels as a casher.
