Anyone have any gut feelings on Round of 64 upsets? I have:
#12 Cal over #5 Temple
#11 NC State over #6 SDSU
#13 Montana over #4 Wisconsin
#14 S Dakota State over #3 Baylor
#12 Long Beach State over New Mexico

Everyone seems to be jumping on the South Dakota State train lately.

I don't see Temple over cal or South Dakota over Baylor, but the others are possibilities and I think NCSU over SDSU is almost probable.

With the exception of ISU, all of of Baylor's losses were against ranked (or recently ranked--KSU moved in and out of rankings) opponents. South Dakota struggled to beat a Western Illionois team in the conference championship winning in OT. Show me their strong wins. And they're 50% on road games.

Btw, I'm down on Syracuse now too with Melo out. Give them two, maybe three rounds if they're lucky.

Long Beach State, Belmont to S16

My first round upsets are:

12 Long Beach St. over 5 New Mexico
10 West Virginia over 7 Gonzaga

I wrestled with the idea of taking Belmont over Georgetown but I couldn't get there...

Along the way I've got:

Memphis in the Final 4
UNLV over Duke to reach the E8

I also like Vandy and Wichita St. as my cinderella teams (if you can call them that...)

Whoa. Just saw Fab Melo is out.. Not sure if I like Kansas St. to knock them out of Vandy... I don't think they could get past Vandy or Wisconsin if they get there but Kansas. St. is so strong on the offensive glass... they'll have so many second chance possessions without Melo. Should be interesting.

I'm not as down on Gtown as other folks. I went to a few games this year and I've seen stellar play and lackluster play. Either way, after the embarassing BET loss, I don't see them playing poorly in first two rounds.

not so much down on Gtown (altho their past 2 years in the tourny...) as up on Belmont. Last night I saw on Kenpom he has Belmont with a 40% chance to win.

Missouri will win it all. This is for sure.

TOM, while I agree Haith blows, I actually think Missouri has played well this year and they're very few losses were close. It's a team that can easily make a run down the stretch.

Of course I don't like KY and folks use that backward on me.

They blew a painfully obvious goaltend. Gave the ball back to Syracuse at the end of the game when they threw it away out of bounds with no one from UNCA even remotely close to touching the ball and pulled out an obscure lane violation rule regarding players coming in from outside of the arc to give Syracuse a do-over when Jardine missed the front of a one and one.

IMO SU just has too much drama going on internally that is making it hard for them to focus

My SU friends even admitted it was a lucky win aided by the zebras. People look at teams wrong thinking as Pres. Obama does that it's all about point guards because they 'make plays happen' as he put it. But take away a guy like Melo then you effectively lose half of your second chances and the games you would win by 7 are now losses by 5. The best teams are never centered around one or two stars because that can only get you so far.

um couldn't Cuse's 1 national championship be basically attributed to one dominant player (the first Melo?). And Fab Melo only averaged 5.8 rebounds per game lol, his impact is much greater on the defensive end with their 2-3 zone than on getting offensive boards.

Don't overlook UNCA being one of the better 16 seeds of all time...

Exceptions to every rule. But you know our Terps team that won wasn't dominated by any superstar. Same can be said of most NCAAT winners. That's actually why I like it. It's hard to be carried by one star and why we never won with Steve Francis or Georgetown with Allen Iverson, etc.

Ugh, just saw UVA score too. I need to take my ACC bias out of things. Although my first pure move through Final 4 left me with nearly all Big 12.

And FSU eeks it out. UVA got destroyed by Florida. Somehow i don't seek Duke stumbling against Lehigh though.

As for our game our best player missed the entire first half and scored no points and we faced a team with a lottery pick and the A10 champs. Given the other results today I'm quite satisfied with our win.

I'm doing pretty well given the circumstances. I predicted the Ohio upset, the VCU upset, the NC State and the Purdue upset. Looking pretty good on Duke and Missouri, as I had Duke losing to Xavier in round 2 and Missouri losing to Marquette in the Sweet 16.

Lol UnC has a fluffing cake walk into the elite 8. Against a 8 seed on Sunday and then in the sweet 16 they play either a 12 or 13 seed? Lolololol thanks upset city, hensen might not have to play till the elite eight, and even then we don't need him to beat NcSU if they go on a run. Baring a collapse UNC in the FF easily.

I was just excited to see them on TV. Had they won that game, I assume as they had a weaker RPI than South Dakota St., they would either have been a normal 16 seed or one of the play-in 16s. If they were playing in Dayton, I would have been very tempted to see if I could pull off driving over to Dayton (probably like a 10 hour drive or so for me) and getting a ticket.

And for the others: No upset "points" for picking a 9 over an 8 or a 10 over a 7. It's not a true upset until you're in the 6/11 matchup or higher.

The big one I had is that I have NC State going to the Sweet 16. Otherwise, my upset radar has been bad. I had Davidson over Louisville as my biggest one. Clearly, while Davidson at least kept it close, but there's definitely different ways you get to a 7 point win, and Louisville in that game (from the highlights I saw anyway) never looked in danger of losing.

My bracket's hurting points wise so far, as most of my upsets were 2nd round upsets, but my Elite 8 and Final 4 are basically as good as everyone else's. I had Missouri in the Elite 8, but then losing to MSU. So in general, I'm feeling about as good as I possible can for the fact that I'm currently playing from behind in my bracket.

Wow UNC dominated today. The return of Hensen, the development of Macadoo, and the decision of marshal to start scoring is starting to look beastly.

With NC state in the 16 and our bracket I kinda look forward to a NC elite eight fighting for a final four. They look hungry, only f they are hungry enough to get by Kansas.

Ya having watched NC, I am an Ohio fan but we just dont match up with NC if we can get by USF.
